PS WAGUNDA MEETS TEAM FROM THE AUDITOR-GENERAL'S OFFICE
The Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Investments and Assets Management (SDPIAM) Mr. Cyrell Wagunda today met officials from the Office of the Auditor-General led by Deputy Director Audit, Mr. Fred Abuga.
The entry meeting was aimed at setting the stage for auditing the expenditure of budgetary allocation for the State Department in the 2025/26 Financial Year in line with the Public Audit Act.
According to the Public Audit Act, the Auditor-General is mandated to audit the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and overall governance of the State Department.
In his remarks, PS Wagunda gave a brief overview of SDPIAM’s core mandate and structure of it's various Departments and Directorates.
The PS assured the team of his full support in ensuring the auditing process for the State Department runs smoothly according to the stipulated requirements and timelines.
The Office of the Auditor-General is mandated to audit and report on the use and management of public resources by public entities, both at the county and national level.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Administration Dr. Bahati Mwita, the Director of the National Assets and Liabilities Management (NALM) FCPA Geoffrey Malombe and other Departmental Heads.

It is a day that reminds us of our collective responsibility to safeguard the gains of independence and work together towards a more united, inclusive, and prosperous nation.
As the State Department for Public Investments and Assets Management, we remain committed to ensuring prudent management of public investments and assets, strengthening governance, enhancing accountability, and creating value for the people of Kenya.
Through collaboration with our stakeholders, we continue to support the Government's development agenda and contribute to sustainable economic growth and national transformation.
On this special day, I call upon all Kenyans to embrace the spirit of patriotism, unity, innovation, and hard work as we strive to realize our shared aspirations under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

PS WAGUNDA MEETS MIGORI YOUTH FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
The Principal Secretary for Public Investments and Assets Management Mr. Cyrell Wagunda today met grassroot leaders and youths in Rongo, Migori County to explore empowerment programs.
The participants were drawn from student leaders, boda boda operators, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) among others.
The youths sought the intervention of the PS for economic empowerment opportunities to enable them get a productive source of income.
The PS implored the youths to register and apply for government tender opportunities through the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System saying there are plenty of opportunities for youths, women and individuals who are abled differently.
He reaffirmed his commitment to support talents including soccer tournament and urged them to organise themselves in groups to easily access opportunities.
PS Wagunda urged the youths to embrace Technical and Vocational institutions to acquire skills which can make them highly competitive in the shrinking job market.
He drummed up support for the Kenya Kwanza government saying it has rolled out various projects, programmes and initiatives across the country among them the affordable housing that has created thousands of employment opportunities.

PS WAGUNDA BREAKS GROUND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW WASIO COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL
The Principal Secretary in the State for Public Investments and Assets Management Mr. Cyrell Wagunda in the company of Mr. Joseph Ogutu, the Chairperson of the MPESA Foundation today broke the ground in readiness for the construction of an improved Wasio Comprehensive School in Suna East, Migori county.
PS Wagunda is championing the construction his Alma Mata, the school he attended and sat for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) in the late 70s.
The institution is set to receive a major facelift at a cost of Sh72 million, direct funding from the MPESA Foundation.
The current structures shall be brought down to pave way for the construction of new classes from pre-primary, primary and junior school in a span of nine (9) months.
The school shall further receive a 40-seater modern computer laboratory, science laboratory, administration block, ablution facilities and a kitchen.
The PS lauded the Chair of the Foundation together with the Board of Management for the partnership in the construction of a new premier school in the region saying it is one way of giving back to the community that raised him.
He noted that, most of the structures date back to the 1960s when the school was established thus the need to give it a new face.
Mr. Ogutu hailed the project saying the Foundation is determined to construct 500 schools in the next five years, a project that commenced last year till 2030, an initiative dubbed 'citizens of the future'.
He further added that the computer laboratory is aimed at imparting the learners with knowledge to enable them compete globally with in changing digital landscape.
Additionally, he said they are determined to provide decent meal to learners to enhance school attendance.
Also present were local leaders, teaching fraternity, parents and learners.
