Somalia has crossed into a dangerous constitutional moment. Parliament’s mandate expired on April 14, yet MPs remain in office without a clear legal basis, while leadership is pushing for a one-year extension to stay in power and quiet discussions of resignations begin to surface.

At the same time, disputes over the electoral process remain unresolved and the legitimacy of key institutions is increasingly questioned, leaving a government that continues to function but without a solid constitutional foundation.
