Not every digital transformation story starts with technology. Sometimes, it starts with a mother in Turkana accessing a government service faster, a young entrepreneur saving hours in queues, or a citizen finally feeling seen by public institutions.

Yesterday, I joined Huduma Kenya CEO CPA Ben Kai Chilumo, our teams and partners for the signing ceremony of the Huduma Kenya-World Bank Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP) Mid-Term Review Report.

The review captures real progress we are making to modernise public service; improving efficiency, expanding access and strengthening integration across government services. We also had honest conversations on the challenges ahead and the practical solutions needed to serve wananchi better.

I remain encouraged by the dedication of everyone driving this work forward. We are building a public service that is faster and more human-centred.

What may look like figures on paper is, in truth, about the daily lives of millions of Kenyans. Every budget line we defend is tied to a teacher, a Huduma Centre officer, youth seeking opportunity, or a family waiting for better services. That responsibility keeps us focused and accountable.

Today, I appeared before the Departmental Committee on Labour, chaired by Hon. Kiti Richard Ken Chonga, alongside our Heads of Departments and agencies, to present and defend the FY 2026/2027 Budget Estimates for the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development.

We had a candid and solutions-driven engagement on funding priorities, project implementation, operational gaps and alignment with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

I appreciated the Committee’s tough but necessary questions on budget variances, project completion and accountability because wananchi deserve transparency on how public resources are utilised.

I reaffirmed our commitment to building a more efficient, people-centred and future-ready public service.

There is something powerful about seeing Government leaders from different sectors sit down with one goal: making life better for Kenyans.

Today, I had the pleasure of hosting PS for Defence, Dr. Patrick Mariru, PhD, for a candid and energising conversation on the future of our public service.

We spoke about practical reforms that matter to wananchi; stronger leadership development, ethical governance, digital transformation and building a workforce that is efficient, accountable and future-ready.

What encouraged me most was our alignment on one simple truth: when public institutions work together, service to citizens becomes faster and more human-centred.

That is the spirit driving this government’s reform agenda, and I am excited about the road ahead. Kenya is building a public service that delivers with excellence and integrity.

A year ago, I walked into office with one simple conviction: public service must feel human again. Today, I was deeply touched when Huduma Kenya CEO Ben Kai Chilumo and his incredible team surprised me to mark my 1-year anniversary in service.

Their warmth, gifts and kind words reminded me that real transformation is built by people who care deeply about wananchi. To Ben and the Huduma Kenya family, asanteni sana.

Your dedication to service excellence inspires me every day. We keep pushing reforms, empowering public servants and delivering a government that works faster, smarter and closer to the people.
