Hon. David Ouma Ochieng’, MDG Party Leader and Ugenya MP, today led a high-powered delegation from the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee during a public participation forum at the IEBC Hall in Siaya County on the proposed 2026/2027 National Budget Estimates.

The forum gave wananchi a direct platform to voice their priorities and shape the country’s development agenda ahead of the next financial year.

Top concerns raised by residents included increased support for agriculture and fisheries, expansion of youth empowerment programs, improved road connectivity, and accelerated last-mile electricity connections.

Also present were Hon. Elisha Akuba, Hon. Ruth Odinga, and Hon. Peter Masara, as leaders engaged the people on building a more inclusive and development-focused budget for all.

MDG Party Leader Hon. David Ochieng this morning joined National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula in hosting Adarsh Swaika at Parliament Buildings for a courtesy call, reinforcing Kenya–India parliamentary cooperation.

As Kenya prepares for H.E. William Ruto’s upcoming visit to India for the India–Africa Summit, Hon. Ochieng emphasized the strength of the longstanding bilateral ties and called for increased Indian investment especially in technology and pharmaceuticals, where India is a global leader.

Discussions also touched on India’s bid for inclusion in the United Nations Security Council, with Kenya reaffirming the importance of strategic global partnerships.
