Healthy wetlands are essential for:
💧 Clean drinking water
🌿 Nutrients for fertile fields
🐟 Freshwater fish that feed millions
🏝️ Sediment that keeps deltas above rising seas
But now, more than ever, our rivers, lakes and wetlands are being put under threat!

☘️ Wetlands and soil are inseparable!
Wetlands improve soil health by preventing erosion and acting as nature’s water filters. Protecting wetlands means nurturing the very ground we depend on.

We're excited to launch the first Indo-Burma course within our Wetland Learning Hub!
It is completely funded by the UK Government through the Darwin Initiative. This is part of WWT’s ambition to support 25 000 conservationists with increased capacity and capability to deliver wetland conservation by 2050.
This online course is designed for early-career professionals or anyone looking to deepen their understanding of wetland conservation, working in the Indo-Burma region (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam). Please see the attached course overview for more information. We’d appreciate your help in sharing this opportunity with your networks. We’re aiming to enroll up to 100 participants from at least 10 organizations in the Indo-Burma region.
This online course will be open to selected participants who will be able to attend free of charge.

Join the Celebration on 2 February 2024!
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Convention on Wetlands and the Italian Ministry for Environment and Energy Security is hosting an event at FAO headquarters and online.
Wetlands offer vital freshwater, hosting over 100,000 species. They sustain humanity, exemplified by rice grown on wetland paddies, a staple for three billion people, contributing to 20% of global food.
Recognizing their importance, FAO is actively involved in supporting the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of wetlands from the perspective of food security and agriculture, including crop and livestock production, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture, while promoting integrated land and water resources management, and addressing the challenges posed by climate change, biodiversity, and the competing demands from different sectors.
