The Apsara Dance is Cambodia’s iconic classical dance form, recognized on 𝗨𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗢’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage as part of the Royal Ballet of Cambodia. For centuries, Apsara dance has continued to evolve while remaining an expression of Cambodian identity, and masterpiece of Cambodia’s culture and heritage.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗽𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗮: Having its roots in the 7th century, the dance was inspired by the celestial nymphs, known in Khmer as "Apsara". The performance is characterized by deliberate, graceful movements and intricate hand gestures, known as "Kbach", which is evidenced in the carvings on the walls of Angkor Wat.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝗽𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲?
🤲 Kbach (Hand Gestures): Over 1,500 hand gestures and finger positions convey different meanings, from flowers and growth to the cycles of life and death.
👑 Attire: Dancers wear silk Sampot Sarabap, golden Mokot crowns, floral collars, chest bands, bracelets, and anklets. Lead dancers traditionally wear 5-pointed crowns, while supporting dancers wear 3-pointed crowns.
🎶 Music: Performances are accompanied by a live Pin Peat orchestra, featuring traditional instruments such as Roneat, Srolai, Skor Thom, and Samphor.

✨When visiting Siem Reap, the Old Market is usually on everyone’s list, and for good reason. But beyond its bustling stalls and lively streets, there are small alleyways tucked behind charming colonial buildings that are worth exploring.

These hidden corners reveal a different side of the city, with local souvenir shops, authentic restaurants, cozy hostels, independent cafés, and photogenic spots waiting to be discovered. 📝𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺:
The Content Network Program is an paid volunteer program by the Cambodia Tourism Board (CTB), created for students who are passionate about tourism, research, and destination storytelling. The program aims to curate accurate and up-to-date information about Cambodia’s tourism through research-based content, while giving young people opportunities to contribute to destination research and storytelling. Throughout the program, we guided and supported our volunteers in developing their research skills, identifying and verifying reliable sources of information, and strengthening a professional approach to their work.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟬𝟭:
📚 6-month program started from April to September 2026.
🔎 90 research topics were assigned to the volunteers to explored different aspects of Cambodia’s tourism, from destinations, culture, traditions, food, and architecture to arts and crafts across the country.
📣Additionally, more than 100 topics about hidden gems in Phnom Penh, & Kampot to support upcoming Cambodia Tourism Board marketing campaigns.

We truly appreciate the time and effort they put into their research, which helped us gather valuable information and insights about Cambodia’s tourism. 🇰🇭❤️

As we wrap up this first generation, we’re excited to share that second generation will be recruiting soon! 🙌 Get ready to join us, and became part of our growing youth-driven tourism content community.

🌿𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗦𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴?

𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗮𝘆 𝗞𝗱𝗲𝗶 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 is located near Srah Srang and just a short distance from Ta Prohm Temple. The temple is about 11 km from Siem Reap city. While it is less well-known than Ta Prohm or Preah Khan, Banteay Kdei shares a similar period and architectural style. Surrounded by large trees, the temple offers a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere.

𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: Banteay Kdei Temple was built in the late 12th to early 13th century during the reign of King Jayavarman VII (ព្រះបាទជ័យវរ្ម័នទី៧) and was dedicated to Mahayana Buddhism. Banteay Kdei is discovery, in 2001, of a cache in which broken statues of Buddha and other Buddhist artifacts (274 pieces) had been buried. (Accordingly to Apsara National Authority).

𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗮𝘆 𝗞𝗱𝗲𝗶:

🎶 Enjoy Khmer music: Listen to traditional Khmer music before heading deeper into the temple. (Consider making a small contribution to support the local)
📸 Capture the moment: Take some beautiful photos inside or in front of the temple gates, especially at the north gate.
🏛️ Explore nearby: Taking a relaxing stop at Srah Srang and continue your temple adventure with a visit to Ta Prohm temple.

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗴’𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗶𝘀? 🍛🌿

Samlor Prong is a traditional soup and a signature dish of the Bunong indigenous people in Mondulkiri province. It is considered a fundamental introduction to Bunong culinary heritage. Its name comes from the Bunong word "Prong", which refers to the fresh bamboo stalk used as the cooking vessel and to add natural flavor to the dish.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: Samlor Prong was once a traditional Bunong forest meal, made with wild meat and other ingredients gathered through hunting. Over generations, the recipe evolved alongside the modernization of Bunong communities. Today, most Bunong people no longer gather ingredients from the forest and instead buy them from local markets.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹:
🎍Bamboo-Vessel Cooking: Grilled fish or meat, eggplant, chilies, prahok, and local herbs are packed into fresh bamboo and cooked over an open flame.
🍛Thick Texture: once cooked, a stick or smaller piece of bamboo is used to crush and blend the ingredients directly inside the bamboo stalk, creating a thick, rustic and smashed texture
🌿Natural Flavor: the heated bamboo releases its natural sap and woody aroma into the broth, giving the soup a distinct herbal and savory that feels like forest-foraged cooking.
