지난 토요일 새벽, 아직 어스름이 가시지 않은 서울, 부산, 제주, 그리고 올해 처음으로 함께한 전주에서 200명이 넘는 참가자들이 함께 걸으며 정신건강 인식 제고를 위한 연대의 메시지를 나누었습니다.

아일랜드어로 ‘빛(Light)’을 뜻하는 Solas는 어려운 시기에도 우리를 비추는 희망과 공동체의 힘을 상징합니다. 아일랜드협회(IAK)의 주최로 올해 3회째를 맞이한 이번 걷기 행사는 국내 정신건강 상담 서비스를 지원하기 위한 기금 마련에도 힘을 보탰습니다.

이른 새벽부터 걸음을 함께해 주신 모든 참가자와 자원봉사자, 아일랜드협회, 그리고 스폰서분들께 감사드립니다. 서로를 향한 작은 관심과 연대가 더욱 건강하고 따뜻한 공동체를 만들어 갑니다.💚

Last Saturday before dawn, more than 200 participants gathered across four cities - Seoul, Busan, Jeju, and for the first time, Jeonju - to take part in the annual Solas mental health walks. Organised by the Irish Association of Korea (IAK), this event brought together local and international communities in solidarity to promote mental health awareness and su***de prevention.

Named after the Irish word for “light,” Solas symbolises the hope, compassion, and sense of community that help guide us through difficult times. Making its third year, the event also raised funds to support the Hospitaller Order of St John of God and their Evergreen Centre in Bangwha, Seoul.

Thank you to everyone who joined the walk, volunteered their time, as well as to the IAK and our sponsors for making this meaningful event possible. Together, we continue to build stronger, more supportive communities.💚

Two of the most innovative Irish companies active in the Korean market are Aerogen, supplying lifesaving nebulisers, and Lumcloon, providing cutting edge renewable energy solutions. The Embassy was delighted to host both companies this week for market outreach and MoU signings respectively. We are proud to see Irish innovation contributing to deeper Ireland-Korea cooperation and partnership. 💚

미쉘 윈트럽 대사는 주한유럽상공회의소가 주최한 Information Session on Women Leadership에 패널 연사로 참여했습니다. 외교관으로서의 리더십 경험과 커리어 개발 과정에서 얻은 인사이트를 공유하고, 직무 수행 중 마주한 도전과 기회에 대한 견해를 전했습니다. ECCK 회원사 및 파트너 기관 관계자 30여 명이 참석한 가운데, 외교, 공공 정책, 기술 분야를 아우르는 여성 리더십에 대한 활발한 토론과 네트워킹이 이어졌습니다.

The Ambassador participated in the ECCK Information Session on Women Leadership as a panellist. She shared her reflections on leadership in diplomacy, the insights gained throughout her professional development, and her perspectives on the challenges and opportunities encountered over the course of her career. Attended by more than 30 participants from ECCK member companies and partner organisations, the session encouraged the productive exchange of views and networking on strengthening women’s leadership in diplomacy, public affairs and the technology sector.

Ambassador Michelle visited Jungang Girls’ High School, where she engaged in thoughtful discussions on a wide range of global issues, including soft power, climate change, AI and mental health. 아일랜드산 소고기는 이마트 입점 등을 통해 판매를 확대하고 있으며, 지난해 수출량은 약37만kg으로 전년 대비 1,064% 증가하는 성과를 기록했습니다. 아일랜드 식품청 보드비아는 한남동 스미스앤월렌스키에서 아일랜드 소고기 세미나를 개최하여 업계 관계자분들과 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌습니다. 아일랜드산 스테이크를 소개하고, 아일랜드 소고기의 우수한 품질과 지속가능성, 한국 시장에서의 성장 가능성을 논의했습니다. Irish beef has continued to expand its presence through major retail partners, including Emart. Exports to Korea reached approximately 370,000kg last year, marking a remarkable 1,064% increase compared to the previous year. Bord Bia hosted an industry seminar at Smith & Wollensky in Hannam-dong, bringing together Korean associates to promote the premium quality, world-leading sustainability and future potential of Irish grass-fed beef within the Korean market. @bordbia

Delighted to take part in the Europe Day reception hosted by . At our booth, guests enjoyed a taste of Ireland featuring Natterjack and Clonakilty Irish whiskeys, Guinness stout and Keogh’s crisps. Our residence Chef Lee Changjo served slow-braised Irish chuck rib and Irish pork sausage rolls, as well as tasty treats made from chocolate Nutshed peanut butter and Flahavan’s oats. 🇪🇺 5월 9일, 유럽의 날을 기념합니다.

아일랜드의 유럽연합 가입은 아일랜드 사회와 경제 전반에 많은 긍정적인 변화를 이루었습니다. 아일랜드가 현대적이고 개방적이며 혁신적인 경제 국가로 성장하는 데 핵심적인 역할을 했습니다.

또한 유럽 국가들과의 긴밀한 협력은 모두가 더 안전하고, 더 강하며, 더 풍요로운 사회를 만드는 데 기여했습니다.

2026년 7월부터 12월까지 아일랜드는 유럽연합 이사회 의장국을 수임합니다. 6개월 동안 아일랜드는 협상을 주도하고, 회원국 간의 합의를 조율하며, 4억 5천만 명이 넘는 유럽 시민들의 일상에 영향을 미치는 EU 법안과 정책을 추진하는 데 기여할 것입니다.

Today we celebrate Europe Day. For more than 50 years, Ireland’s 🇮🇪 membership of the European Union has had an overwhelmingly positive impact across all dimensions of Irish society.

EU membership has been central to Ireland’s development and transformation into a modern, open and innovative economy.

Closer integration with our European partners has helped to make us all safer, stronger and more prosperous.

From July to December 2026, Ireland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union – a central leadership role at the heart of EU decision-making.

For six months, Ireland will guide negotiations, broker agreement between Member States, and help deliver EU laws and policies that affect the daily lives of more than 450 million people.
