한글이 태어난 도시, 세종한글축제 술술페스티벌에 부자진이 다녀왔습니다.

이틀 동안 정말 많은 분들이 찾아주셨어요. 처음 오신 분도, 다시 와주신 분도 — 모두 고맙습니다.

그리고 이 자리를 만들어주신 운영진과 스태프분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 보이지 않는 곳까지 꼼꼼하게 챙겨주신 덕분에 저희는 부스를 운영하면서도 축제를 온전히 즐길 수 있었습니다.

양평도 이런 축제 만들어 주세요. 😄
We just got back from Sejong — and what a city to visit!

The Sejong Hangul Festival’s SoolSool Festival ran for two days, and the turnout genuinely caught us off guard. First-timers, familiar faces, people who’d tracked us down specifically — thank you, all of you.

And to the organisers and staff who made this whole thing happen: we see you. The parts nobody notices are always the parts someone spent the most time on. Because of how well everything was put together behind the scenes, we weren’t just running a booth — we were actually at the festival.

Now someone needs to make this happen in Yangpyeong. Just saying.

7년 전, 한국에서 처음으로 진을 선보인 뒤 정말 많은 박람회를 다녔습니다.

온라인에서 쉽게 만날 수 있지만,
직접 눈을 마주치고 한 잔을 건넬 수 있는 자리는 역시 다릅니다.

처음 만나는 분들의 표정이 설레고,
한번 만나고 기억해주셨다가 다시 찾아와 주시는 분들을 보면
그저 반가운 것 이상으로 참 고맙습니다.

왜 하필이면 잔소리 진일까요?
이름을 짓는 데 가장 오래 걸린 진이에요.

부자진의 부자(父子) 가 아버지와 아들을 뜻한다는 건 아시죠? 그런데 만들다 보니 한 가지가 계속 마음에 걸렸어요. 엄마가 빠져있다는 거.

그래서 만들었습니다. 11번째 진, 엄마를 위한 진.
엄마의 잔소리는 솔직히 듣기 싫어요. 근데 걱정하는 사람이 잔소리를 하거든요. 쓴 말이지만, 그 안에 늘 애정이 있어요.

잔소리 진도 그래요. 첫 모금엔 달콤한 바질과 향긋한 유자가 반겨요. 근데 잠시 후 — 매콤한 꽈리고추가 불쑥 올라와요. 딱 엄마 잔소리처럼요. 예고 없이, 근데 결국 맞는 타이밍에.

그리고 그 여운이 — 이상하게 기분 좋아요.
듣기 싫었는데, 또 생각나는 그 잔소리처럼요.
Jansori means nagging in Korean. And yes — we named a gin after it.

Here's why.
Buja Gin was built by a father and son. Buja literally means father and son in Korean. But somewhere along the way, we realised someone was missing from the story. Mum.

So our 11th gin became hers.
There's something universal about a mother's nagging. You don't want to hear it. But the people who nag you are almost always the ones who care most. It's rarely comfortable — but it comes from somewhere real.

Jansori Gin works the same way. It opens with something you'd want — sweet basil, bright yuzu. Welcoming, easy, familiar. And then, just when you've settled in, a sharp hit of shish*to pepper arrives. Unexpected. A little uncomfortable. Completely on purpose.

And somehow — the finish feels good.
Like finally admitting your mum was right all along.

솔직히 말하면, 이 자리가 이렇게 될 줄 몰랐습니다.

싱가포르 패션 카운슬과 Enterprise Singapore가 주도한 Singapore Selects — 싱가포르를 대표하는 18개 패션 및 라이프스타일 브랜드가 서울패션위크에 맞춰 성수 ZZON에 모였습니다. 프리즈 서울과 같은 기간이었고요.

그 18개 브랜드 중 하나가 Young Hungry Free였고 — 부자진이 콜라보를 함께했습니다.

패션과 진이 무슨 관계냐고 물으실 수 있어요. 저도 처음엔 그 질문을 했습니다. 그런데 Young Hungry Free를 알면 알수록 — 두 브랜드가 같은 말을 하고 있다는 걸 알게 됐어요. 타협하지 않는다. 자기 것을 한다. 그게 전부다.

양평 밭에서 시작한 한국 크래프트 진이 싱가포르를 대표하는 브랜드들과 성수에서 한 잔을 나눴습니다. 생각보다 자연스러웠어요.

Honestly, I didn't expect it to feel like this.

Singapore: Selects — an initiative by the Singapore Fashion Council and Enterprise Singapore — brought 18 homegrown Singaporean fashion and lifestyle brands to Seongsu's ZZON, timed alongside Seoul Fashion Week SS27 and Frieze Seoul. Young Hungry Free was one of them. Buja Gin was there too.

Someone asked me what a craft gin distillery has to do with fashion. Fair question. Standing in that space, the answer became obvious — everyone in that room was saying the same thing, just in different languages. Do your own thing. No shortcuts. That's it.

A craft gin from a herb farm in Yangpyeong, sharing a room with some of Singapore's most considered brands in the most creative neighbourhood in Seoul. It felt more natural than I expected.

Thank you to Young Hungry Free and Singapore Selects. This won't be the last time.

둥굴레 진에 고구마가 들어간다는 거, 알고 계셨나요?

오늘은 직접 밭에 나왔습니다. 다음 진 라인업에 들어갈 고구마를 수확하러요. 말복 이라고 하지만 — 솔직히, 여전히 가혹합니다. 예상보다 많은 고구마, 예상보다 많은 땀...진짜로 덥습니다. 흙 속에 손을 넣고, 머리 위엔 땡볕, 고구마 앞에 지름길은 없습니다.

밭일 끝나고 품질 관리차 몇 개 구워 먹어 볼까 합니다.

Did you know sweet potato goes into our Doongulae gin?

I'm out in the field today — harvesting the sweet potatoes that will go into our next expression. It's the tail end of the Korean summer heat, and I'll be honest, it's relentless out here. More sweet potatoes than I expected. More sweat than I'd like to admit.

But this is where it starts. Every bottle begins with a day like this — hands in the soil, sun overhead, no shortcuts. We'll roast a few on the way back. Consider it quality control.
