Lao Youth Athletes Attend the 2026 Clean Sport Youth Camp in the Republic of Korea
Four athlete representatives from national sports federations, including athletics, table tennis, judo, and baseball, together with one team leader from the Elite Sport Department, participated in the 2026 Clean Sport Youth Camp, held from 19 to 22 August 2026 in the Republic of Korea. The Lao delegation joined youth representatives from across Asia to strengthen their understanding of anti-doping, fair play, and ethical values in sport.
The camp, organized with the support of anti-doping and sports organizations, brought together young athletes, coaches, and sports leaders to learn about the importance of competing clean and protecting the integrity of sport. Through interactive workshops, educational sessions, and cultural exchange activities, participants gained valuable knowledge about anti-doping rules, athletes' rights and responsibilities, and the principles of fair competition.
The Lao participants actively engaged in discussions and team-building activities with fellow participants from different countries. The event provided an opportunity for the athletes to share experiences, develop leadership skills, and promote a culture of clean sport among the younger generation.
The Lao representatives were nominated by the Lao National Anti-Doping Organization (Lao NADO), the national body responsible for promoting clean sport and coordinating anti-doping activities in Lao PDR. Lao NADO highlighted that participation in the camp aligns with its ongoing efforts to strengthen anti-doping education and awareness among athletes throughout the country. The organization emphasized that young athletes play a vital role in promoting clean sport values and serving as role models within their communities.
In addition to educational activities, participants enjoyed cultural exchange programs that fostered friendship, mutual respect, and international cooperation. The camp encouraged young athletes to build networks across borders and work together to advance the values of integrity, respect, and excellence in sport.
The participation of Lao youth athletes in the 2026 Clean Sport Youth Camp reflects Lao PDR's continued commitment to supporting clean, fair, and drug-free sport. The knowledge and experiences gained from the camp will help these young athletes become ambassadors for clean sport and contribute to raising awareness among their peers and future generations of athletes.
