LARReC comes under the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) as one of its 12 research centers. The centre has five core responsibilities within its mandate around fisheries research in Lao PDR and consists of three research units, these are Capture Fishery Unit, Aquaculture Unit, and Data and Information Unit.
