Driving Change: Saint Lucia at the Forefront of Caribbean E-Mobility
From April 7–11, 2025, Saint Lucia joined regional leaders, innovators, and change-makers at the first-ever Caribbean Electric Mobility Forum in St. John’s, Antigua & Barbuda.
The forum brought together voices from government, the private sector, and academia to share ideas, build partnerships, and explore ways to accelerate sustainable transportation across the Caribbean.
Key topics included:
- Policy and regional planning
- Charging infrastructure and standards
- Data and digital systems
- Public awareness and inclusion
- Business models and the circular economy
Through the Shift to Electric Mobility in Saint Lucia (STEM-SLU) project—supported by GEF 7, UNEP, and GIZ—Saint Lucia continues to push toward a cleaner, low-carbon transport future.
This forum gave us the chance to connect with other countries, learn from successful projects, and explore how we can build a greener, more resilient Caribbean together.

Progress in motion! ⚡️
Our STEM Validation Workshop was a pivotal step in St. Lucia’s journey toward greener transport.
The Government of Saint Lucia is taking a significant step towards sustainability and energy efficiency by replacing gasoline and diesel vehicles in its fleet with electric vehicles (EVs). Supported by the Shift to Electric Mobility in Saint Lucia (GEF 7 EV) Project and the Supporting the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in the Caribbean - transforming the transport and energy sectors towards a low-carbon and climate-resilient future (NDC TEC) projects, this initiative aims to procure approximately 20 EVs for eight Government agencies.
