CATCOP Provides ARFFS Project Status Update to Fire Services ๐จ
On Friday, May 8, 2023, the Caribbean Regional Air Transport Connectivity Project โ Saint Lucia (CATCOP-SL) team conducted a comprehensive project status update with the Fire Services Department regarding the ongoing Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) Project.
The meeting formed part of CATCOPโs continued stakeholder engagement efforts aimed at ensuring transparency, collaboration, and effective coordination throughout project implementation. During the session, the CATCOP team presented updates on components and milestones achieved to date, outlined upcoming activities, and discussed the project timeline and operational considerations associated with the ARFFS facility improvements.
Discussions also focused on the critical role of the Fire Services Department in supporting enhanced aviation safety standards at Hewanorra International Airport and strengthening emergency response capabilities within Saint Luciaโs aviation sector. Stakeholders were given the opportunity to provide feedback, raise operational concerns, and discuss areas for continued collaboration as the project advances.
The ARFFS Project represents a significant investment in the modernization and resilience of airport emergency infrastructure and forms part of the wider CATCOP initiative aimed at improving regional air transport connectivity, safety, and operational efficiency.

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, the Caribbean Regional Air Transport Connectivity Project (CATCOP) team held a productive project sensitization meeting with the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) โ Superintendent, Southern Division, and his team.
This important engagement formed part of CATCOPโs ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders as we advance the Runway Rehabilitation Works at Hewanorra International Airport.

Significant strides continue to be made toward the Runway Rehabilitation Works at Hewanorra International Airport, a key initiative aimed at enhancing safety, efficiency, and resilience within Saint Luciaโs aviation sector.

CATCOP Engages Hon Shawn Edward Minster of Infrastructure, Ports Services and Energy
The Caribbean Regional Air Transport Connectivity Project โ Saint Lucia (CATCOP-SL) team recently met with the Hon Shawn Edward Minister of Infrastructure, Port Services and Energy for a productive sensitization and project update session.
During the meeting, the Project Implementation Unit provided an overview of the projectโs historical context, current status, and key activities underway, including the Hewanorra International Airport Runway Rehabilitation Design. The session also highlighted the Environmental and Social Framework guiding project implementation and provided an opportunity for open discussion with stakeholders.
The engagement forms part of CATCOP-SLโs ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration with national partners to ensure the successful delivery of the project and the continued enhancement of Saint Luciaโs air transport infrastructure.
