This 100-hour English programme, organized by the Ministry of Education, is designed for O/L & A/L school leavers and is conducted completely free of charge.

Functions of the PESC / RESC

3.1 Conducting residential / non-residential teacher training programs / seminars / workshops to improve the quality of English Language Teaching of the teachers of English in the schools of the catchment area.

3.2 Conducting workshops / seminars for the students to facilitate O/L (English Language and Literature) and A/L (General English and Literature) examinations.

3.3 Assisting Provincial DDE / ADE (English) and Zonal ADE (English) to conduct / judge English Language and Drama Competitions and other ELT related activities as required.

3.4 Assisting Provincial DDE / ADE (English) and Zonal ADE (English) to set term test papers and other formative and summative evaluation tools as required.

3.5 Visiting schools to follow up teacher training programs and provide feedback to the Education and Zonal Director of Education.

3.6 Providing assistance to the Director / English and Foreign Languages, and the Director / English, National Institute of Education to conduct ELT related activities as required.

3.7 Providing resources of ELT for the use of the teachers of English in the catchment area.
