A different kind of Heart-to-Heart session ❤️
This Valentine’s Day, we focused on the ultimate matter of the heart. The Resus Club of FMAS successfully conducted a CPR training session for over 100 students at Hotel School, Anuradhapura, on 13th February, under the guidance of the Department of Anaesthesiology, THA — proving that the greatest gift you can give your loved ones is a second chance at life.

Congratulations to the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Rajarata University, for clinching the top spot at this year’s CPR Competition for Medical Students, organised by the Resuscitation Council of Sri Lanka and the College of Anaesthesiologists and Intensivists of Sri Lanka.
This outstanding achievement reflects not only exceptional technical skill, but also a strong commitment to lifesaving excellence, teamwork, and clinical precision.
We sincerely acknowledge the invaluable guidance and support of Dr. Vishaka Kerner, (Consultant Anaesthetist), and the Department of Anaesthesiology Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura, whose mentorship played a vital role in this success. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Hemal Senanayake (Consultant Physician) and the Department of Medicine for generously providing the facilities and support essential for practice and preparation.

Continuing the tradition of excellence at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka
True leadership means being prepared for anything. We were honored to train 600 university students in life-saving CPR techniques on 16th October 2025, with the guidance of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura.

On 13th October 2025, the FMAS RUSL Resus Club trained 1300 school children in High-Quality BLS with the guidance of the Department of Anaesthesiology, THA. With essential life saving skills these students are now trained to bridge the gap until professional help arrives.

A community that trains together, stays safe together.
Nearly 70% of cardiac arrests happen in public.
To ensure our community is ready, the FMAS RUSL Resus Club conducted a comprehensive CPR workshop at Divisional Hospital Nochchiyagama on 24th March 2025, with the guidance of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura.
Nearly 30 participants, including hospital staff, public health midwives, and healthcare assistants, were trained.

On 29th October 2024, the FMAS RUSL Resus Club, guided by the Department of Anaesthesiology, Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura, trained NTS students in Anuradhapura.
Our mission was to ensure that no heart beats its last simply because a bystander didn’t know what to do.

Knowledge is power; CPR is a superpower.
True leadership means being prepared for anything. We were honored to train nearly 150 army soldiers at the 21 Brigade, Anuradhapura, on 23rd October 2024 with life-saving BLS techniques.
Thank you to the Department of Anaesthesiology, Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura, for providing us with the guidance to make this possible.
