The Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, invited Professor Luke Harding from Lancaster University to visit Sri Lanka and extended her support for the DoE to conduct a professional development workshop. With her endorsement, the workshop was successfully held on 22nd March 2026 at the department, bringing together officers committed to strengthening assessment practices at the national level.
We were deeply honoured to have Professor Luke Harding as the resource person. His expert guidance and engaging delivery greatly enriched the learning experience of all participants. The workshop was further strengthened by the participation of Prof. Bimali Indrarathne and Dr. Anton Pushparaj, whose presence added further academic value.
This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing the assessment literacy of officers and contributes to ongoing efforts to reform education, ensuring quality, fairness, and integrity in national assessment practices.
The Department extends its sincere appreciation to Prof. Harding for his generous contribution, to Prof. Bimali Indrarathne and Dr. Anton Pushparaj for their valuable support and to all participants and office staff for their active engagement and commitment.
