Celebrating academic excellence between our two countries through Dr. Mahesh Premarathna’s research journey in France 🌟

Last November, Dr. Mahesh Premarathna from the University of Colombo traveled to Poitiers thanks to one of our scholarships 🇫🇷✈️

During this time, he collaborated with Dr. Alexis Avdeef in the CRIHAM Laboratory of the Anthropology Department of the University of Poitiers, conducting impactful research on the ideological foundations of Sinhala-Buddhist nationalist movements in post-war Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰💭

In addition, he also hosted engaging workshops for students, sparking insightful discussions and deepening the academic exchange between Sri Lanka and France.

A special thanks to the University of Poitiers for graciously hosting Dr. Mahesh Premarathna and supporting this research experience. 🙏

Now, the collaboration continues as both institutions embark on an exciting new chapter with online cross-disciplinary seminars on regional ethnologies💻🌍

Proud to attend « Bonjour ශ්‍රී ලංකා », the Franco–Sri Lankan cultural and tourism event held on 23 February at Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC) 🇫🇷🇱🇰

👉 On 6 August, the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, along with Alliance Française de Colombo and Campus France Sri Lanka, organised a pre-departure session for Sri Lankan students and academics going to France in September ✈️

France is renowned for its prestigious schools and universities, its vibrant culture, its cuisine and its stunning landscapes, from the Alps to the Mediterranean Sea.

But what is life there really like? How do you find a place to live? How much will it cost? How much does life in general cost? What administrative procedures do you need to complete when you arrive in France to make yourself feel at home ? These are the questions that were answered to during this session.

A French course for beginners was also conducted by French teachers from the Alliance Française de Colombo to help ensure a smooth and comfortable arrival in France 🌟

👏 Congratulations to all the participants on successfully applying to a higher education institution in France and attending this session. Thank you for choosing France in which to further your studies and knowledge.

Promoting studies and research in France as well as fruitful academic and scientific partnership between Sri Lanka and France 🇱🇰🇫🇷 is one of the best way to build the bridge between our two cultures.

🌟This morning, the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives attended the fruitful 'EU Information Session on Higher Education and Grant Opportunities in Europe', which was co-organised by the Faculty of Science and the Centre for International Affairs at the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka.

🌍This event was dedicated to informing students, academics, and administrative staff at the University about educational opportunities in France and Europe. It also served as an opportunity to reaffirm the Embassy's commitment to fostering academic and scientific partnerships between Sri Lanka and France.

💪Heartfelt thanks to the organisers and the audience, who enabled the guests to share information and advice on studying in Europe!
