PERIOD PROUD Kite Festival!
Held on International Menstrual Hygiene Day (May 28), the Period Proud Kite Festival was more than just a celebration, it was a powerful finale to the Collective Action Against Period Poverty (CAAPP) project.
This inspiring journey, made possible through a groundbreaking partnership with the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, brought much-needed attention, resources, and compassion to an issue too often overlooked.
Hereโs a little throwback to a day filled with hope, pride, and kites that carried our message high into the sky. ๐ชโค๏ธ

โฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃโฃFrom 2023 to 2025, the Collective Action Against Period Poverty (CAAPP) Project partnered with 13 NGOs across Sri Lankaโs northern and central provinces to tackle period poverty. The project focused on improving menstrual health and hygiene, eliminating stigma and discrimination, and strengthening grassroots civil society efforts to expand access to menstrual products, spark public dialogue, and empower women and girls to thrive in school, work, and community life.
Today, the final Steering Committee meeting was held at Galle Face, bringing together key stakeholders to reflect on the journey, share best practices, and chart the path forward for menstrual health equity in Sri Lanka.
Special appreciation is extended to the Steering Committee members, whose technical expertise and commitment were instrumental in shaping this initiative. Their continued support helped elevate the CAAPP Project from a grassroots effort to a national platform for change.
