This video was shot near Lete in Mustang District, following a fresh spell of floods and landslides on Sunday. It shows a large section of a mountain sliding into the Kali Gandaki River in the valley below within about six seconds. Residents can be heard screaming as the debris rushes downhill. The footage was recorded by Char Dham pilgrims.

A New Wild Cat Species Has Been Identified After More Than 100 Years

Scientists have described Leopardus tilcayo, a previously unrecognized wild cat from Bolivia’s Yungas cloud forests—the first new living cat species formally described in more than a century.

Weighing only around 1.4 kg (3 lbs) and measuring about 46 cm, the Tilcayo is smaller than an average domestic cat. Its muted brown coat and distinctive, large irregular rosettes helped distinguish it from related tiger cats.

The discovery came through genetic analysis of 38 tiger-cat specimens, revealing that what was once considered one widespread species actually represents five distinct species. Researchers estimate that L. tilcayo diverged from its relatives around 1.4 million years ago.

The species was named “Tilcayo,” the name used by local communities, recognizing traditional knowledge of the animal. National Geographic Explorer and Bolivian biologist Paola Nogales Ascarrunz was part of the research team that led the identification.

Only one living Tilcayo is currently known to be in protective care. Scientists are now using camera traps and field surveys to determine whether more individuals survive in the wild and to better understand the species’ distribution and conservation needs.

A remarkable reminder that even in the 21st century, there are still wild species hiding in ecosystems we have yet to fully understand.

When tragedy strikes, priorities are put under the spotlight.

Reports claim that the U.S. received $3.7 billion worth of Venezuelan oil exports in April, while $150 million in earthquake relief was later announced after a devastating disaster that claimed hundreds of lives and left thousands affected.

For many, the comparison raises difficult questions about fairness, humanitarian responsibility, and who truly benefits from a nation’s natural resources.

Beyond politics are ordinary families searching through rubble, grieving loved ones, and hoping for a chance to rebuild.

Human lives should never become secondary to economic interests.

What do you think—should countries holding or benefiting from another nation’s resources have a greater responsibility to support them in times of crisis?

🕊️ Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

☀️ Your sunscreen protects your skin… but what about our oceans? 🌊

Every year, an estimated 14,000 tonnes of sunscreen enter our oceans. While sunscreen is essential for protecting us from harmful UV rays, certain chemical UV filters such as Oxybenzone and Octinoxate have been linked to harmful effects on coral reefs and marine life.

The solution isn’t to stop using sunscreen—it’s to make better choices.

🌿 Choose reef-friendly, mineral-based sunscreens whenever possible.
🪸 Protect coral reefs.
🐢 Help preserve marine biodiversity.
🌍 Every small choice creates a bigger impact.

💬 Would you switch to an ocean-friendly sunscreen if it helped protect marine ecosystems? Let us know in the comments.
