Geriatric clinic in CSTH was started as an initiative, to combat the Medical & Psychosocial problems in the rapidly increasing Elderly population of SL.
The Elderly population in Sri Lanka is rapidly increasing in line with the increase of world elderly population. It is expected that the elderly population in Sri Lanka which was at 12.7% in 2012 will be at 16.7% in 2021 and 27.6% in year 2050. In 2015 the ministry of health appointed 4 medical officers trained in geriatrics to start a Geriatric Clinic in CSTH to combat the medical problems of the

Geriatric and palliative unit CSTH conducted a community outreach clinic at Dalthara shelter4 homeless elders home on 30 th september 2020.Dr lushanthi kannangara Consultant Physician , Dr Thushanthi Prasath Consultant Physician , Dr Maheshi and Dr prasad (Geriatric registras), Medical officers, Nursing officers from Geriatric and Palliative unit, Physiotherapist Mr Pradeep and Optometrist Mrs Dilini and Ms Daisy sudusinghe (Social worker of CSTH) contributed as resource Personnel.we appriciate your voluntary participation in this event to make this event successful .
