Yesterday, an FBO successfully harvested fresh cassava tubers with the support of the District Agricultural Officer (DAO) in Karluway District, and the farmers were linked to available markets for sale.

Try and See is an FBO located in Tugbaken, Karluway district, this group was established a few years ago and had been working tirelessly to succeed in their activities. In recent times through the effort of the District Agriculture Officer ( Brooks W. Wallace), they were recruited to be part of the RETRAP project for this year's target in Maryland County.

Yesterday, they harvested Two and half Tricycle loads of cassava tubers and were linked to the market. Remember that we have a market now for cassava farmers in Maryland County. The Gbawanken Tendeh Rural Women Cooperative Society in Karluway district precisely Gbawanken Town are purchasing cassava tubers from local farmers in Maryland County. This group is considered as processor in Maryland County and they'll also be processing cassava flour in the soonest possible time.

The harvest was successful and many thanks to the DAO for his tireless efforts in Karluway district.

The Maryland County Agriculture team and Regional Agriculture Coordinator for Region 5 visited the Pedebo International Border today.

The purpose of the visit was to pay a courtesy visit to the Quarantine officers that are assigned at the border and to conduct routine visits and to hear from them some of their challenges and the ongoing situation at the border.

Many thanks to Oretha N Freeman MOA employed Quarantine officer and Abraham B. Wilson Jr. Volunteer Quarantine officer.

This visit included: RAC, CAC, DAOs and other Volunteers at the local ministry of agriculture.

In fulfilment of the National Agriculture Development Plan (NADP)/ Feed yourself agenda of the ministry of agriculture, the Maryland County Agriculture team and the Regional Agriculture Coordinator visited Barrobo District for a two days interactions with farmers.

During our stayed, we interacted with farmers from the three County Districts of Barrobo Statutary District on how to improve productivity, increasing their farms size, and on how we can meet our target for this year as a County. The farmers town hall meetings brought together youths, women group, FBOs, CBOs, Cooperatives and local government officials.

Many thanks to the RAC and the Maryland County Agriculture team and not forgetting the good people of Barrobo District.

We must increase productivity and feed ourselves in Maryland County
