During our engagement with the citizens, several major community needs and development priorities were highlighted by the citizens, including the construction of a town hall, rehabilitation of roads which we committed to joining the community leadership to drive this process, chairs for community use, scholarship opportunities for students, latrines, and safe drinking water facilities.
We successfully established the MDI Cell in the town, and four (4) individuals were elected into local leadership positions as Chair, Coโchair, Secretary General, and Chair for Mobilization.
We are grateful for the warm reception and level of engagement from the citizens. We remain hopeful and committed to continuing the outreach and engagement activities from tomorrow through Sunday.

Day 2 & 3 of Our MDI Engagement (Building MDI Leadership Cells in Villages and Towns) โ District #6
Yesterday and today, our team carried out major engagements in Leleh Town, a key community that serves as a polling center and a mother town to Totota, as well as several surrounding towns and villages.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the town authorities, including the General Town Chief, youth leaders, women, and elders. The MDI Chairman, Patrick Wokpeh, along with team members, presented kola nuts as a sign of respect, which was graciously accepted and appreciated by the community.
We clearly explained the purpose of our visit and engaged the citizens on the importance of working together to establish a strong Moye Development Initiative (MDI) leadership cell in Leleh. Given its strategic importance as a mother town to over 20 surrounding towns and villages, the response was overwhelmingly positive. To further strengthen our relationship and demonstrate goodwill, we made a small presentation to the town leadership.
This gesture was warmly received, and the citizens expressed full commitment to working with us. They affirmed their support for Hon. Moye and pledged to stand with him in 2029, appreciating his continued concern for their wellbeing.
Our team also visited Gbeyilita Town, the largest town in the clan and the headquarters of the Sawyeapolu Clanโcomprising over 42 towns and villages. Gbeyilita serves as the central hub of the clan, with over 500 residents in the town and thousands more across the clan. Upon our arrival, we followed tradition by first meeting with the Clan Chief and General Town Chief, presenting kola nuts on behalf of MDI, and formally introducing our mission.
We met the citizens while they were actively clearing land for the construction of a community school. The Clan Chief, Elder Anthony Kortu, warmly welcomed our team and expressed deep appreciation for our initiative. He emphasized that when leaders return to their people with development efforts, it builds lasting trust and loyalty.
He highlighted a major challenge which our team addressed and committed to working together with the citizens to ensure it happens.
Our team successfully established a vibrant MDI leadership cell in the clan and strengthened relationships with key stakeholders. The Clan Chief, General Town Chief, and other leaders pledged full cooperation with our team across all 42 towns and villages. It was a deeply impactful engagementโunderstanding their challenges and working together toward solutions.
This marks the successful completion of Phase One of our MDI leadership cell-building initiative. The next phase will focus on continuous follow-up and strengthening the functionality of these leadership cells in each community.
Looking ahead, we plan to begin with the launch of a Life Skills Empowerment Training in May for these major populated towns:
Leleh Town: 500 beneficiaries
Gbeyilita town, Sawyeapolu Clan: 500 beneficiaries
This will commence once recruitment is completed in collaboration with the MDI local leadership cells.
Special thanks to our political leader, Senator Hon. Prince Kermue Moye, Sr. whose vision and development agenda continue to inspire and guide our work across B**g County.

DAY #1 OF OUR MISSION TO ESTABLISH MDI LEADERSHIP CELL ACROSS LOWER B**G.
Today, a few members of our team from the Moye Development Initiative (MDI) began several community engagements across towns and villages around Totota. We were warmly welcomed by the several communities dwellers who expressed appreciation for our presence and the work we are doing.
Our first visit was to the 1st Baysah Farm Community, where we presented kola to the town leadership as a mark of respect. During the engagement, we established the MDI Community Leadership Cell and appointed Madam Kaymah Gwee as Chairlady. Additionally, Pastor G. David Kollie of Gweeta Community was appointed as our focal person. He will convene a meeting with the broader town leadership to ensure proper structuring of the MDI leadership.
The team also visited Gonota Community, where Mr. Kalabah was nominated as the focal person and head of the MDI Leadership Cell. In Sugar Hill Community, Mr. Garmeh G. Jabateh and Youth Chair George Sengbeh were appointed as Co-Chairs of the MDI Leadership Cell.
Finally, we paid a courtesy visit to the District Paramount Chief, Elder Stephen A. Gwee. During this meeting, our MDI Chairman, Mr. Patrick Wokpeh, presented kola on behalf of the team and formally introduced our mission.
The Paramount Chief expressed great appreciation for our efforts to support Senator Prince Kermue Moye and pledged his full support to the initiative. He also committed to engaging fellow elders and organizing a meeting where we can further collaborate and strengthen community leadership structures.
Overall, it was a productive day, with many citizens expressing gratitude to our team and to Hon. Moye for his ongoing development efforts.
While a few concerns were raised regarding communities that felt they had not benefited from previous outreach, the citizens remained appreciative and expressed their willingness to work with MDI to ensure that development initiatives are visible and impactful across the district and county.
Tomorrow, we will continue our outreach to additional towns and villages within the district as we expand MDI leadership cells.
We also look forward to further engaging our political leader to strengthen support for decentralized, grassroots-driven initiatives across communities.
