Hey👋, My name is Adrien Neu and I am a rising senior at Aline Mayrisch Secondary School in Luxembourg. This summer, I attended the Pre-College program at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

This 2-week academic program is designed for high school students and provides a great insight into student life at Harvard. The courses offered covered advanced material in different fields such as Astrophysics, Medicine, Law, or Politics.

In one course I attended titled ‘Human Physiology, Physiopathology, and Diseases’, I learned about human body systems, their related medical conditions, as well as current research efforts in the biomedical area.

Students were also required to choose eight co-curricular events which they would attend outside their classes, which included museum visits and recreational trips, presentations about economic, environmental, political, or scientific issues, as well as tips on how to prepare for college.

Throughout the two weeks at Harvard, I gained extremely valuable knowledge, not only through the course and presentations but also through the people I met from all around the world. We all stayed in a dorm room on campus and had access to all kinds of Harvard resources, from the Harry Potter-like Annenberg dining hall to the majestic Widener Library.

This experience was a dream coming true for me, and I feel very grateful to have been a part of Harvard Summer School. It made my goal of further studies in the US seem possible to achieve and demonstrated that dreams can be realized if we show continuous commitment and keep a positive mindset.

The New Graduate Fellowship is a $1,000 USD award. With this award, non-Texas residents also qualify for in-state tuition, which saves more than $7,000 USD. The $1,000 is awarded in $500 increments, during each fall and spring semester. No awards are made in the summer.
