Repost from Embassy of Lebanon in South Africa:
Letter to the Lebanese Communities in South Africa and the region
On the occasion of Lebanon’s Independence Day on the 22nd of November, we extend our heartfelt greetings to each and every one of you.
This day has always been a symbol of our resilience, unity, and pride in our beloved homeland. However, this year, our hearts are heavy, and our celebration is overshadowed by the war that is taking place in Lebanon.
Instead of joyful gatherings, we find ourselves mourning the loss of our martyrs who have given their lives for our country. We stand in solidarity with their families and loved ones and hold them in our thoughts and prayers. We also pray for the recovery and safety of the injured and for peace to be restored to our land.
As we reflect on our history of struggle and perseverance, let us draw strength from one another as a community. Even in times of hardship, our bond as Lebanese people remains unshaken. We urge everyone to come together in support of our country and its people in every way we can, whether through prayer, action, or advocacy.
May this Independence Day serve as a reminder of the unbreakable spirit of Lebanon and the hope for a brighter, peaceful future. Let us keep our homeland in our hearts and continue to uphold its legacy with dignity and strength.
With profound sadness yet unwavering hope,
Kabalan Frangieh
Ambassador of Lebanon to South Africa, Angola, Zambia, Madagascar, Mozambique and Lesotho.
