The “21st Century’s Rohingya Wikipedia” Rohingya Research Foundation

Rohingya Gen-Z is pleased to highlight a new initiative by our Coordinator, Abul Kasim ; the Rohingya Research Foundation (RRF).

RRF is envisioned as a Rohingya knowledge and research platform, something we can think of as a “Rohingya Wikipedia” bringing together information, research, history, documents, publications and other resources related to the Rohingya people in one accessible place.

For generations, much of our history and knowledge has been scattered across different sources and institutions. Building accessible platforms where Rohingya history, identity, experiences, research and documentation can be preserved and shared is an important step toward strengthening our collective knowledge.

We encourage Rohingya youth, researchers, students, writers, activists, journalists and community organizations to explore the platform, contribute reliable information, and help build a stronger knowledge base for present and future generations.

Update!

Alhamdulillah!

Mr. Zafar Ahmad Abdul Ghani, President of the Myanmar Ethnic Rohingya Human Rights Organisation Malaysia (MERHROM), has been released on bail following his appearance at the Putrajaya Magistrates’ Court.

Mr. Zafar was charged on 30 September 2026 under Sections 42 and 48 of Malaysia’s Societies Act 1966 and pleaded not guilty to both charges. The court has fixed 30 October 2026 for the next mention of the case.

His release on bail is welcome news for his family, colleagues, the Rohingya community and human-rights defenders who have been following the case closely.

We also appreciate the Malaysian authorities and the Government of Malaysia for allowing the legal process to proceed and for Mr. Zafar’s release on bail. We hope the remaining legal proceedings will continue fairly, transparently and in accordance with due process and the rule of law.

We hope Mr. Zafar will be able to continue his advocacy for the rights, dignity and protection of Rohingya refugees.

The charges and court proceedings were reported by Bernama and Free Malaysia Today, among other Malaysian media outlets.

URGENT: Rohingya Gen-Z Calls for Due Process and the Release of Zafar Ahmad Abdul Ghani

Rohingya Gen-Z is deeply concerned about the reported detention of Rohingya activist and human rights defender , of MERHROM, in Malaysia.

Zafar has long been known within the Rohingya community for his work advocating for the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of Rohingya people. His work and public engagement have made him a visible voice on issues affecting the community.

We recognize that any allegations or legal concerns should be addressed through a fair, transparent, and lawful process, while fully respecting the rights, dignity, and legal protections of the individual concerned. Allegations should be established through due process rather than public accusations or speculation.

We are also concerned by reports that Zafar and his family have faced accusations and online attacks over the years. At this difficult moment, we call for respect, restraint, and solidarity within the Rohingya and Malaysian community.

Rohingya Gen-Z respectfully urges the Malaysian authorities to ensure that Zafar Ahmad Abdul Ghani receives access to legal representation, due process, and all protections guaranteed under applicable law. If there are no lawful grounds for his continued detention, we call for his release.

We stand with the principle that every person deserves justice, dignity, and a fair process.

Five years ago on this day, the community lost one of its most prominent voices, Mr. Mohib Ullah, who was assassinated in the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh.

We, the Rohingya Gen-Z , mourn his loss with profound pain. Five years have passed, yet the wound left by his assassination remains deeply felt across our community.

Mohib Ullah dedicated his life to representing the Rohingya people and advocating for our rights, dignity, justice, and a peaceful future. His assassination was not only a loss for his family, it was a devastating blow to the entire Rohingya community.

Five years have passed. We still demand justice.

We urge the Government of to ensure a full, transparent, and impartial investigation and to hold everyone responsible for his assassination accountable and bring them to justice, regardless of their position or affiliation.

Time must not erase accountability.
Silence must not bury the truth.
And justice must not be delayed forever.

We remember Mohib Ullah.
We remember his courage.
We continue to demand justice.

Justice for Mohib Ullah.
Justice for the Rohingya.

now needs clear short-, medium- and long-term strategies. A high-level committee has been formed under the prime minister, and I believe it will set the future strategy.

Said by Mizan Rahman

With aid shrinking, armed-group activity rising and a growing young population facing an uncertain future, no Rohingya has yet been repatriated, says RRRC Commissioner Mohammed Mizanur Rahman in an interview with The Business Standard .
