Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Macau came together in Hong Kong in a spectacular display of athleticism, unity, and bayanihan spirit as they won the exhibition games in both basketball and volleyball, recently held on August 30, 2026, at the Southhorn Stadium Sports Complex in Wanchai, Hong Kong.

The sporting event, organized by OWWA Hong Kong in partnership with the MWO and Philippine Consulate General Hong Kong, drew thousands of participants and spectators from across the China region.

The exhibition showcased the exceptional talent and unwavering camaraderie of Overseas Filipino Workers, transforming the venue into a vibrant festival of sportsmanship and national pride.

BASKETBALL (MALE) & VOLLEYBALL (FEMALE)
In the men's basketball division, the Macau team emerged victorious after a thrilling match against Hong Kong, clinching the challenge with a decisive victory. The exhibition games featured teams composed of Filipino workers in Hong Kong and Macau.
Meanwhile, the women's volleyball matches energized the crowd, with every spike and save drawing enthusiastic cheers from spectators.

Volleyball star Abigail 'Aby' Maraño and PBA player Calvin 'The Beast' Abueva also joined our OFW athletes in supporting sportsmanship, a healthy lifestyle, and unity among our fellow Filipino citizens.

𝓜𝓦𝓞-𝓞𝓦𝓦𝓐 𝓜𝓪𝓬𝓪𝓾 successfully conducted a seminar workshop on Mental Health, Well-being, and Stress Management for OFWs in Macau on August 23, 2026, at the Multi-Purpose Room, Harbour View Hotel Macau SAR.

This was in response to recent mental health conditions that led to unfortunate incidents and health problems linked to distressful situations encountered by OFWs living and working in the area.

Consul General Edna May G. Lazaro opened the session by emphasizing that a truly healthy workplace is defined not only by productivity but also by psychological safety and mutual support among colleagues. She also highlighted that supporting mental health is a group effort that strengthens the entire workplace.

Ms. Anali Jane G. Tejada, Resource Speaker, Psychologist, and School Counsellor in Macau, facilitated the seminar. She provided participants with practical tools to identify personal stress triggers, understand emotional responses, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

The seminar was attended by 108 OFWs in Macau from different industries who actively engaged in the activities, sharing personal experiences and daily stress-management strategies.

The Caritas Expat Life Hope Hotline Macau was invited to present their programs and services for the OFWs in Macau. They offered a professional and supportive alternative for individuals experiencing stress or distress. Both telephone and face-to-face support are available whenever assistance is needed.

Post will continue to conduct seminars and trainings for OFWs in Macau to support their well-being.

𝐎𝐖𝐖𝐀 O𝐖𝐎 in Macau 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐲 (Cold Meal) 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐅𝐖𝐬

MWO-OWWA Macau – Conducted the 1st session of the Cookery (Cold Meal) Training for OFWs at MO’s Place, 19th Floor, Cento Cheng Meng Alameda Dr. Carlos Assumpcao, Macau.

Fifty-two (52) participants who joined the interactive class attended the first of three sessions. Ms. Socorro A. Manduriaga, volunteer trainer, served as the resource speaker and cooking coach. A TESDA NC II Certified, she gained her expertise through years of experience.

The primary lesson discussed lectures on basic food preparation, kitchen safety, sanitation, and menu planning. Participants are also treated to a demonstration and hands-on practice in food preparation. The objective of this training is to enhance their skills for work and paving a solid path toward entrepreneurial reintegration on their return to the Philippines.
