CHILD ABDUCTION / RETENTION is now a CRIMINAL OFFENCE under Maltese Law as per amendments to the Criminal Code by the introduction of Article 89A. Given that the offence carries a term of up to 3yrs imprisonment, one can also invoke a European Arrest Warrant against the perpetrating parent 👨‍⚖️

Perhaps it's time where judges favour shared parenting divorce contracts - not least when both parents are agreeing to have that kind of flexibility.
