Ambassador ISHIGAMI visited one of the project sites for the Smart Micro Grid System in Hithadhoo, Addu Atoll. The project received support from Japan through the Joint Credit Mechanism (JCM) and was implemented by ADB. The project sites are maintained by
Fenaka Corporation Ltd.

Ambassador ISHIGAMI attended the handover ceremony for fire pump equipment provided by Japan to strengthen the Maldives’ disaster response capacity, particularly in climate-vulnerable outer islands. The equipment was officially handed over from National Disaster Management Authority - Maldives to Ministry of Defence and National Service.

Ambassador ISHIGAMI paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Minister of Defence and National Service, H.E. Hassan Rasheed. They reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and cooperation and exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral relations.

Ambassador ISHIGAMI met with Mayor Ali Nizar during her visit to Addu and exchanged views on possible areas of cooperation.

Ambassador ISHIGAMI visited Yours Maldivian Addu Katsuobushi Pvt. Ltd., in Hithadhoo. The factory purchases tuna from local fishermen and contributes to the local economy. Ambassador observed the process of making Katsuobushi during her visit to the factory.

Ambassador ISHIGAMI paid a courtesy call on Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage H.E. HEENA Waleed. As 2027 marks 60 years of deplomatic ties,🇯🇵 & 🇲🇻 discussed cultural exchange and future visions of cooperation between two countries.
