Maldivian Democratic Party

Maldivian Democratic Party MDP is the first and the largest political party in the Maldives. President Nasheed took office on 11th November 2008.

Formed in exile in late 2003, initially the party had to operate from Sri Lanka and United Kingdom. Party was formally registered in the Maldives in 2005 and formed the first democratic government, after it's Presidential Candidate, Mohamed Nasheed, won the presidential elections on 28th October 2008.
