Last week, the mission published its final report and recommendations on Malawi's 2025 general elections which took place in September. The 21 recommendations, including six priority recommendations, are listed below.

The EU Election Observation Mission hosted a roundtable with Malawian electoral stakeholders today to discuss the missionâs final report and recommendations. Each of the 21 recommendations, including the six priority recommendations, were presented by members of the missionâs core team, and the participants commented on and discussed them at length.

This was the EU Election Observation Missionâs last official engagement in Malawi. The mission now hands its report over to the Delegation of the European Union to Malawi, which will follow up on the recommendations by advocating their implementation and offering support where possible.

The mission met His Lordship Justice Rezine Mzikamanda, Malawi Chief Justice, yesterday, to present the EU Election Observation Mission Malawi 2025 final report, including recommendations.
His Lordship was joined by the Honourable Justice Dorothy NyaKaunda Kamanga, Supreme Court of Appeal Judge, Chair of the Judiciary Committee on Elections.
The mission thanked the Chief Justiceâs Office for excellent collaboration throughout the missionâs duration.

The EU Election Observation Mission met the Right Honourable Justice Dr Jane Ansah, Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, today in Lilongwe.
The mission presented its final report, including a set of twenty-one recommendations, to her.

Today, on this , the EU stands firm alongside Malawi as we jointly underline that human rights belong to everyone, everywhere, every single day.
âWe all want the same things: safety, dignity and freedomâ, said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker TĂŒrk, âhuman rights are essential for our common humanityâ.
We commend Malawi for the progress made in the field of human rights over the last years, as evidenced by its recent 4th Universal Periodic Review, and together we will continue defending human rights globally.

The EU Election Observation Mission presented its final report and recommendations to the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority MACRA today.
Core team mission members also held a meeting with the Centre for Multiparty Democracy and representatives of political parties.
