Tragic House Fire at PPR Dato Senu, Sentul
A fatal house fire occurred at a Project Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) residence in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, claiming the lives of an elderly mother and her son.
The victims, an 82-year-old woman and her 58-year-old son, were found in the bathroom by the Fire and Rescue Department after the fire was brought under control. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
In many fire emergencies, occupants may move to bathrooms believing they are safer due to the presence of water. However, smoke and heat can still enter enclosed spaces, leading to rapid smoke inhalation.
This tragedy highlights the importance of early evacuation, as smoke is often the greatest danger in a fire. As a general safety reminder, every household is encouraged to have at least one fire blanket readily accessible for early-stage fire emergencies.

π₯ Kampar Old Bazaar Fire: A Lesson for Business Owners
On 22 December 2025, a fire broke out Kampar, destroying 54 shop units. The blaze spread quickly through the tightly packed commercial area, causing significant losses to traders. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, as occupants managed to evacuate safely.
As of the latest updates, no further developments have been reported, and the situation remains as confirmed by authorities.
Incidents like this highlight how fires in market and bazaar environments can escalate rapidly, especially after operating hours when shops are closed and detection may be delayed.
Fire Safety Lesson for Traders Before Closing Shop:
β’ Switch off all electrical appliances and power points
β’ Ensure no cooking, heating, or charging equipment is left operating
β’ Remove combustible waste such as cardboard and packaging
β’ Make sure exits and walkways are not blocked by goods
β’ Conduct a final visual check before locking up the premises
A few minutes of checks at closing time can prevent hours of destruction later.
Fire safety is not just about response, but daily habits that reduce risk.
π Stay alert. Stay prepared.

π₯ Mont Kiara Condo Fire: A Tragic Reminder
On 10 December 2025, a fire broke out at Mont Kiara, a high-rise condominium in Mont Kiara. Emergency services responded quickly, but sadly, a 38-year-old man lost his life. The fire was worsened by a malfunctioning fire prevention system, which hampered firefighting efforts.
What To Do During a Fire:
β’ Stay low and move away from smoke. Clean air hides close to the floor.
β’ Use the stairs to go down β never the lift, as lifts can trap you. Avoid going upstairs unless directed by firefighters.
β’ Close the door behind you when escaping to slow the fireβs spread.
β’ If trapped, seal gaps with a wet cloth, stay near a window, and signal for help.
β’ Use a fire extinguisher only if safe β if the fire is too large, evacuate immediately.
β’ Call emergency services (999) as soon as you are in a safe location.
This incident reminds us that preparedness saves lives. Know what to do, stay calm, and act quickly when seconds matter.
