VOLUNTEERS FOR CLEAN ABIA FOR ALEX OTTI 2027 MOVEMENT INAUGURATED IN ABA.
A new movement aimed at promoting the sustainability of permanent cleanliness across Abia State and supporting the continuity of the administration of Governor Alex Otti in 2027 was formally inaugurated on Monday, September 28, 2026.
The movement, known as Volunteers for Clean Abia for Alex Otti 2027, was birthed out of the passion and zeal of the Deputy General Manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Aba Zone, Elder Okezie Ezengwa, for sustaining the gains recorded in environmental cleanliness and good governance under the New Abia administration.
The inauguration ceremony, which brought together dignitaries and stakeholders from across the state, was attended by the General Manager of ASEPA, Mazi Ogbonnia Okereke; DGM, ASEPA, Ohafia Zone, Mr. Peter Ekekwe; Sir Ishmael, SSA to the Governor on Cooperatives and Vice Chairman, Labour Party, South-East; Mrs. Amaka Ezengwa, wife of the DGM, ASEPA, Aba Zone; Prof. Ijeoma Iheukwmere SSA to the Governor on Environment Mrs. Amarachi, who represented the Commissioner for Environment; Mr. Philemon Asuonye, among other dignitaries.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Volunteers, led by Hon. Mbama, former Transition Committee Chairman of Aba South, pledged their commitment to keeping the objectives of the movement active and sustained.
The Volunteers are expected to promote environmental cleanliness, encourage responsible waste management and support initiatives that seek to sustain the transformation of Abia State.
The brief but impactful ceremony was brought to a close with prayers by Mrs. Amaka Ezengwa, wife of the DGM, ASEPA, Aba Zone, who prayed for the success of the Volunteers and the objectives of the movement.
The inauguration marks the beginning of a volunteer-driven effort focused on sustaining cleanliness and mobilising citizens around the vision of a cleaner and better Abia State.
