UMUNRI 2026
Yesterday at the APGA Secretariat, two familiar names stepped forward to pick up forms to contest for the position of Local Government Chairman:
Hon. Clem Aguiyi, former Transition Chairman, and Hon. Christian Chukwudi Ezenwaka ( Ozonkpu Akaekpuchionwa Enugwu ukwu Na Umunri ), former Deputy Chairman Njikoka local government .
Let it be clear from the onset:
this is not a divided ambition , it is a united strategy.
They are running as a team.
They are driven by one agenda.
And that agenda is simple and just: the Umunri Agenda.
Njikoka is made up of two clans — Umunri and Umu Owelle.
The incumbent is from umuowelle and has shown no willingness to relinquish power.
Yet equity, fairness, and political balance demand that leadership rotates.
That moment is now.
Both Hon. Aguiyi and Hon. Ezenwaka are from Umunri, and the resolve is firm:
Umunri must take its rightful turn.
This is why they both stepped forward , not to compete against each other, but to strengthen the chances of Umunri in a field where many aspirants are contesting.
So let no one be confused.
If Aguiyi emerges, it is still the Progressive Team.
If Ezenwaka emerges, it is still the Progressive Team.
The team remains the same.
The vision remains the same.
The destination remains the same.
This is not about personal glory.
This is about justice, balance, unity, and progress.
Umunri is focused.
The Progressives are united.
And the mission is clear.
Eyes on the ball.
The Umunri Agenda
2026 must prevail.
31/01/2026
Dearest NJIKOKA Stakeholders.
There are moments when silence becomes complicity.
This is not one of those moments.
Because when you look at this document, dated August 15, 2013 , what stares back at you is not an opinion. It is not a suggestion. It is not a political mood.
It is an agreement.
Six communities.
Two clans (Umunri and Umu Owelle)
One clear understanding.
Ndi Njikoka, through their leaders and traditional rulers, sat down, discussed, and agreed on one thing: power must rotate. Not when convenient. Not when someone feels entitled. But as agreed.
The document speaks plainly. Njikoka is divided into two clans (Umunri and Umu Owelle), and the Chairmanship of the Local Government is rotational between them.
No SECOND TERM.
No shortcuts.
No clever reinterpretation.
Rotation continues until every community has had its turn.
Fast-forward to today.
The current Chairman / Mayor is from Umuowelle. His tenure has run its course. And now, against the spirit and the letter of this signed agreement, there is a move for a second term.
That is where the problem is.
This is not about performance.
This is not about projects done or not done.
That conversation belongs elsewhere and to his own people.
This is about something far more serious: respect for a binding document.
Because if agreements reached by all and signed by all can suddenly be ignored, then what exactly are we building?
If documents only matter when they favour us, then what value do our signatures hold?
Let it be clear:
Umunri is not begging.
Umunri is not negotiating what has already been agreed.
We are simply saying this: honour the document.
And if this agreement, signed, sealed, and never revoked is set aside for political convenience, then we will do the only responsible thing left: seek redress.
Not out of bitterness.
Not out of desperation.
But out of principle.
Because today it is this document.
Tomorrow, it could be any agreement.
And a society where agreements mean nothing is one already in trouble.
This document is alive.
This document is valid.
And it must be respected.

Can Gov. Soludo’s Opponents Get To Olumbanasaa?
By Stephen Nnopu
Now that the November 8, 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election is on the front burner, it is crucial to remind all the other contenders gunning for the coveted position of the great distance that the incumbent Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has already covered. If I may ask, can these wannabes go the distance? It is well-nigh impossible.
Let’s recall that history was made on Saturday, November 25, 2023, when a sitting Governor of Anambra State for the very first time visited Olumbanasaa in Anambra West Local Government Area, previously considered inaccessible. Governor Soludo dared to venture into a land where others dodged, demonstrating uncommon courage and unprecedented hands-on leadership. He clearly showed that he is the governor of everybody, not just those whose locations can be conveniently accessed through well-paved roads.
The journey to Olumbanasaa was an emotional one for Professor Soludo, as he wrote in his personal account: “…my heart brims with emotions so profound they transcend the scope of language.” He was aware he was keeping a date with history and would leave no stone unturned to mine the advantage of the visit. Since the creation of Anambra State, no governor had set foot in Olumbanasaa and similar communities in Ogbaru and Awka North local government areas.
It is important to remind the governorship contenders aspiring to get into the ultra-modern Government House, The Light House, which Soludo built, that Mr. Governor made the voyage to Olumbanasaa from atop the River Niger. The journey started at the Marine Jetty, Onitsha, and lasted for over one hour on the Nigeria Navy speedboats. The Governor’s boat finally moored at Igbedor waterside, where large numbers of ecstatic locals thronged to catch a glimpse of the Governor.
Aside from motorcycles (okada) and tricycles (keke), the primary means of transportation in Olumbanasaa were on foot and by boat. After a brief address at the river’s shore, the Governor and his entourage boarded kekes and okadas to head for one of the main aims of his visit: mediating in the fratricidal conflict between Allah-Onugwa and Odekpe communities. The mediation was successful, as Governor Soludo persuaded them to cease hostilities, enabling government to look into the contentious issue of land boundaries.
The Governor walked the talk of peace and development. The traditional ruler of Olumbanasaa, His Royal Highness Igwe Pius Machonu, paid glowing tribute to Governor Soludo for demonstrating exceptional love for his people. Governor Soludo stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence among neighboring communities, announcing his commitment to establishing a Primary Health Centre powered by solar energy—a promise that has since been fulfilled. The government has also illuminated Olumbanasaa with solar lights, provided boreholes, and revamped educational institutions.
The people’s joy was evident in the traditional song and dance that filled the air, as well as the majestic hippopotamus masquerade that entertained. The ill-assorted lot gunning for Governor Soludo’s office can hardly get this far to win the hearts of the people.
Notably, Governor Soludo’s visit to Olumbanasaa was neither a fluke nor a flight of fancy. Right from when he was campaigning for office, he showed genuine empathy for the neglected areas of Anambra State. Anybody aspiring to govern Anambra State must go Governor Soludo’s ennobling distance.

WAS DUBAI BUILT IN A DAY?
In 2021 one of the most famous “slogan” ever seen in the political space was that of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, where he made it known to ndi Anambra that he will turn Anambra into the Dubai Taiwan of Africa.
Since then, lurking eyes and wagging tongues haven’t slowed down in asking prof about the Dubai Taiwan Anambra.
However, a closer look at history tells us that Dubai’s rise to global prominence was not instantaneous. Dubai is over 200 years old—a city built on centuries of strategic planning, visionary leadership, and relentless ex*****on.
That brings us back to young Anambra- just 33 years old as a state.
Now, exploring and assessing the strides of the current government in just 3 years, one couldn’t but wonder what previous administrations were doing that left such a backlog of development to be addressed.
Soludo has in just 3years awarded over 744.86km of roads with over 410km completed and bridges across Anambra with heavy landmark projects like the largest water park and amusement park in Africa, Anambra’s Silicon Valley, 22 brand new smart schools, 5 brand new hospitals in slums, trauma centers, school of nursing sciences, upgraded 326 primary health care centers, ongoing ten story international hotel, new government house and lodge which other governors have shyed away from forgetting that “ọrụ cheere Onye cheere onwe ya”, securing investments and strategic partnerships of over $500m from UNOPS to support the capacity of the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), UNDP to establish Makers Space, a hub for technology and entrepreneurship, Afreximbank for Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City and the intra-city rail project, Genesis Energy and VFD Energy to develop independent power plants (IPP), JNC International to build a specialized cancer treatment facility, CardinalStone to establish a naira-denominated fund under the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation (ADIC) for infrastructure projects, among others. etc
Recruitment of 8,115 teachers and 1000 medical personnels, free antenatal and delivery services for pregnant women, free education from nursery to secondary schools for all public schools in Anambra, 5000 youths empowered with 2 billion naira, 20,000 youths trained in digital skills, 2.2 million economic trees distributed to 130,000 families, 8,700 youths currently undergoing another phase of digital skills training,
Inspiring a lot of Anambra billionaires and churches to invest in the public-private partnerships to rebuild the state.
Unlike other states, he declined unfavorable World Bank loans, choosing instead to finance development through strategic fiscal management.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Great cities are not built overnight. True progress is measured by the foundations laid for future generations. Those who assess governance through an objective, data-driven lens can see that Anambra’s transformation is well underway.
Soludo is not merely executing projects, he is shaping the economic and social architecture of a state poised for long-term prosperity!
What else could ndi Anambra ask for?
A prudent man who knows his onions!
Soludo is not just a Governor! He is the blueprint for progressive leadership!
And so,
Was Dubai built in a day? No.
Is Anambra going to be built in a day? No.
But under Soludo, Anambra’s transformation is no longer a distant dream. It is a work in progress, and the results are undeniable.
Happy third Anniversary to the Soludo Administration!
