*World Hepatitis Day: Ebonyi State Stands United Against Hepatitis*

Today, we join the global community to mark World Hepatitis Day — a vital reminder that hepatitis remains a silent threat, yet one that we can eliminate through awareness, prevention, and access to care.

We recognize that myths, stigma, and barriers continue to stand in the way of eliminating hepatitis and preventing liver cancer. Many people still believe harmful misconceptions, delay testing, or suffer in silence due to fear and discrimination.

Note:
✅ Hepatitis is preventable.
✅ Hepatitis B can be controlled and prevented through vaccination.
✅ Early testing saves lives.

🔍 What You Should Know About Hepatitis:
It affects the liver, often without symptoms, until serious damage occurs.

It is transmitted through blood, unsafe injections, unprotected s*x, and from mother to child during childbirth.

It is not a death sentence — early detection and treatment can prevent liver cancer and failure.

Prevention is Key

Avoid sharing sharp objects like razors, needles, or clippers.

Use only sterile medical equipment.

Practice safe s*x.

Request hepatitis testing during antenatal and general health checkups.

📢 Ebonyi is rising... and the world is taking note!

*Ebonyi State ministry of health in an effort to reduce avoidable deaths is offering free transportation and treatment of emergency cases through Ebonyi State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (EBSEMSAS) for pregnant women, under five children, victims of snake bites, gun shot injuries and road traffic accident.

EBSEMSAS Ambulance picks up pregnant women with complications such as bleeding, severe malaria, hypertension in pregnancy and other complications in pregnancy, and also under five children having convulsion, high fever, diarrhea, vomiting to accredited health facilities for free treatment in the first 48hours to improve maternal and child health by addressing delays in accessing emergency care. Others are people with snake bites, gunshot injuries, and road traffic accidents.

Ebonyians, especially those within the capital city, are advised to take advantage of this opportunity to save the lives of their loved ones.
