Firecrackers or bangers have been in illegal use for a long time, but one may ask of what benefit is firecrackers in celebrations and festive seasons?

Who are the people benefiting from the illicit business of trading on firecrackers?

Weeks into the Christmas and New Year the atmosphere is already polluted with the sound and smoke of firecrackers.

Generally, fireworks is known to have caused avoidable but untimely deaths, deformities, burning up of whole houses and other property etc.

It is capable of triggering high blood pressure in elderly people and others with mental health issues and other adverse health conditions.

The persistent insecurity experienced in parts of the country should be one good reason why the traders and those who patronize their illicit trade in bangers should reconsider their involvement in the face of the danger their trade is posing to our society.

We are here again, this time initiating episodes to enlighten Ebonyi people on the recently validated; Guidelines on Alternative Care for Children in Ebonyi State.

We shall be discussing the 8 chapters of the guidelines in details for 8 weeks beginning with chapter 1 from coming week.

This week precisely on Thursday October 16, we shall be concluding our exposition of the Overview of the Guidelines which we started last week.

I shall be bringing different experts on board every week to join me with our Anchor Nnenna Igwe in discussing the Guidelines.
