Terah's Background
Terah was introduced in the Bible as the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

He lived in Ur of the Chaldeans, a city in ancient Mesopotamia (modern-day southern Iraq).

Haran died young, and he was the father of Lot, Abraham's nephew

Later on, Haran also died, after Haran's death, Terah took his family and set out for the land of Canaan but settled in Haran instead, where he lived until his death at the age of 205.

Sarai, later known as Sarah, was recognized as the wife of Abraham and the mother of Isaac.

Sarah was also noted for her close relationship with Abraham, being both his wife and half-sister.

Both Abram and Sarai have the same father but different mother.

Abraham bore children with three different women: Sarah, Hagar, and Keturah.

He had one promised son, Isaac with Sarah, Ishmael, with Hagar, and with his third wife, Keturah, he fathered six more sons: (Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah), Jokshan (became the father of two sons, Sheba and Dedan. The descendants of Dedan were the Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim, all of whom are mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.

Jokshan's story is significant because it shows the broader lineage from Abraham, which contributed to the formation of various tribes and peoples in the region.), Midian (defeated and significantly reduced in the Bible. First, the Israelites under Phinehas destroyed them in the time of Balaam for seducing Israel into sin. Later, the Midianites rose again to oppress Israel but were then utterly defeated and destroyed by Gideon's army.

Hagar who lived between approximately 1930BC and 1840BC (this time Egypt was occupied by people like Kush*tes and Nubians). She was an Egyptian handmaiden of Sarah who became Abraham's concubine, giving birth to his son Ishmael, who is considered the ancestor of the Arab peoples.

After mistreatment by Sarah, she fled into the wilderness, where God's messenger found her, promised her many descendants, and instructed her to return and submit to Sarah.

Later, Sarah again sent Hagar and Ishmael into the wilderness, but God sustained them and protected Ishmael.

Ancient Jews’ appearance
The ancient Israelites (Jews of biblical times) lived in the Levant (region include modern Israel, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan,).

Archaeology, ancient art, and genetics suggest they looked like other Semitic peoples of the region: olive to brown skin tones, dark hair, and Middle Eastern facial features.

They were not sub-Saharan African (“black” in today’s sense), nor Northern European (“white” in today’s sense).

After the destruction of the Second Temple 70AD and later Roman expulsions, many Jews dispersed:

Some stayed in the Middle East and North Africa (Mizrahi, Sephardi Jews).

Some migrated into Europe (Ashkenazi Jews).

Some went deeper into Africa (Ethiopian Jews, Beta Israel).

Over centuries, Jewish communities intermarried at varying degrees with local populations, while still maintaining a distinct identity through religion and culture.

Why are Jews in Europe look “white” today?

Ashkenazi Jews (who settled in Central and Eastern Europe) mixed somewhat with European populations, though not completely—they often married within the community.

This long history in Europe gave them lighter skin compared to their Middle Eastern cousins.

Genetic studies confirm that Ashkenazi Jews are a mix of Middle Eastern ancestry (majority) and Southern/Eastern European ancestry (minority).

Jews are not a single “race” but a people with shared ancestry, religion, and culture, found all over the world.

You’ll find Jews with Middle Eastern features (Yemenite, Iraqi Jews), darker-skinned African Jews (Ethiopia, Uganda), fair-skinned European Jews, and even East Asian Jews by conversion or mixed heritage.

✅ So to the question:
The Jews did not “leave black and come back white.” it was a figment of imagination of Gamal Abdel Nasser, the former President of Egypt, (Jews and Aarabs are stepbrothers, why are the Arabs not dark-skinned?

Ancient Jews were Middle Eastern in appearance (neither black African nor white European).

Over 2,000 years of migration and mixing created Jewish communities with different appearances, ranging from very light to very dark skin.
