TRACE Deploys Full Resources Across Ogun Highways For Eid-el-Fitr Traffic Control.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has deployed its full operational capacity across 27 major traffic corridors in the state as part of measures to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The agency said the special operation, which commenced on March 16, 2026, will run until March 27, 2026, covering key highways and critical traffic points across the state.
According to a statement issued by the senior TRACE Commander, Elias Omonayajo Adedayo, the initiative is designed to guarantee effective traffic management on a 24-hour basis throughout the festive period.
He noted that TRACE operatives would also be deployed to all Eid praying grounds across the 20 local government areas of the state to manage traffic and parking, ensuring orderliness at entry and exit points.
Adedayo explained that the operation would focus on increased patrol visibility, strategic positioning of rescue and emergency response teams, and intensified public awareness campaigns before, during, and after the celebrations.
He added that the agency would closely monitor motorists and other road users, including both commercial and private vehicles, in anticipation of increased human and vehicular movement during the period.
Major routes under surveillance include the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode-Benin/Ore Expressway, Sango/Ota-Idiroko corridor, Atan-Agbara-Badagry route, Abeokuta-Siun Interchange, and other critical highways across the state.
Motorists have been advised to exercise caution, particularly on roads undergoing construction or rehabilitation, while TRACE officials will be stationed at such locations to regulate traffic and maintain order.
The agency also disclosed plans to collaborate with other security and safety organisations, as well as community-based traffic management groups, to enhance overall road safety.
Field commanders were directed to ensure that operatives maintain professionalism, civility, and fairness while carrying out their duties.
While extending greetings to Muslim faithful and road users, Adedayo urged motorists to avoid speeding, drunk driving, and unnecessary night travel, and to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
He warned that vehicles impounded for traffic violations during the period would not be released until March 30, 2026, after the conclusion of the special operation.
For emergencies and rescue situations, TRACE advised the public to contact its toll-free line 112 or other designated helplines. The agency also said its social media platforms would provide real-time traffic updates, alerts, and advisories throughout the festive period.
