Abeokuta North Local Government, in partnership with RB Organics, has once again empowered young people through vocational skills acquisition, this time in professional soap production.
This second edition of vocational training is part of the lineup of activities marking the One Year in Office Anniversary of the Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo–led administration, reflecting the administration’s commitment to youth development, self-reliance, and sustainable economic growth.
By equipping the young people with practical, income-generating skills, we are building a stronger, more productive Abeokuta North.

Abeokuta North Local Government To Partner With GiriToday, Promises Economic Revival And Support For Indigenous Products Through Digital Innovation
In a bid to further enhance local enterprise and promote economic inclusivity, the Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, today held a strategic meeting with representatives of GiriToday, a digital e-commerce company, at the Council Secretariat, Akomoje.
The meeting focused on an impending partnership aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs and integrating small and medium-scale business owners into the digital marketplace.
During the engagement, the GiriToday team made a comprehensive presentation outlining their plan to onboard local producers, artisans, and traders from Abeokuta North onto their online platform. This initiative is designed to help business owners showcase their products, access wider markets, and conduct seamless online transactions—thereby boosting commerce and driving sustainable economic growth within the Local Government.
In his remarks, Hon. Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering innovation and creating an enabling environment where local businesses can thrive. He emphasized that embracing digital technology is crucial to strengthening self-reliance, promoting entrepreneurship, and increasing the visibility of indigenous products across Nigeria and beyond.
The Office of Skill Acquisition and Enterprise Development also expressed readiness to collaborate closely with GiriToday and other relevant partners to actualize this vision of digital and economic transformation.

Abeokuta North Chairman Honours Outstanding Teachers, Administrators for Excellence in Education, Allots Plots of Land to Awardees
The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, has organized a special reception to honour exceptional teachers and administrators from public primary schools within the local government who have distinguished themselves at both state and national levels.
The recognition ceremony, held at at the local government secretariat, celebrated the achievements of four award-winning educators whose commitment to teaching excellence has brought pride to Ogun State and Nigeria.
Among the honorees was Mr. James Olatunde Odubela, who emerged as the Best State Administrator (Public Primary School Category). Also recognized was Mr. Taiwo Solanke, who not only won the Best State Teacher (Public Primary School Category) in Ogun State but also emerged as the Overall Best Teacher in Nigeria (Public Primary School Category) — a remarkable feat that drew wide applause from attendees.
Others honoured at the event include Mrs. Alonge Bolanle, who emerged as the 2nd Best State Administrator (Public Primary School Category), and Mrs. Tijani Rahamot Bolanle, who was named the 3rd Best State Teacher (Public Primary School Category).
Speaking during the reception, Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo commended the awardees for their dedication, professionalism, and positive impact on pupils in Abeokuta North. He described teachers as the “true builders of the future generation” whose hard work often goes unnoticed, emphasizing the need to celebrate excellence in the education sector.
“These outstanding teachers and administrators have demonstrated that commitment and passion can transform our educational system. Their achievements are not just personal milestones but collective victories for Abeokuta North and Ogun State,” Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo said.
He further allot a plot of land to each of the awardees as an encouragement for their outstanding achievements.
He assured that the local government would continue to support initiatives that promote quality education, reward diligence, and inspire others within the system to strive for excellence.
The event attracted education stakeholders, community leaders, and family members of the awardees, who commended the chairman’s gesture as a laudable example of leadership that values human capital development.

In a historic move towards strengthening social protection for transport operators, Abeokuta North Local Government and Abeokuta South Local Government jointly hosted a stakeholders’ meeting on the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme for the informal transportation sector mainly Okada riders.
The meeting, held at Abeokuta South local government secretariat brought together critical stakeholders including the Chairmen of both Local Governments, their executive members, the leadership of transport unions — ROMO, ACOMORAN, and AMORAN, as well as the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of both LGs. Also in attendance were the APC Party Chairmen of Abeokuta North and South, and representatives of the Arewa community.
Union leaders at the meeting warmly welcomed this initiative, describing it as a timely and impactful step towards ensuring safe riders, safe roads, and safe passengers. They also pledged their support to make the program run smoothly, while appealing to the local governments to extend the scheme to other motor unions for broader coverage.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to inclusive governance, community wellbeing, and accessible healthcare for all.
