😆 🤣 😂

Apple officially launched the four models of its new iPhone 14 series But for an average Nigerian worker to afford the latest phone, it will take over three years of diligent work and full savings to be able to afford the latest models.

Naira depreciation and other factors will make this year's iPhone the most expensive for Nigerians. According to information on the Apple website, the iPhone 14 Pro (254GB) model of the new series will start at $1099.

The $1099, when converted with the official exchange rate of N436.50, comes to N479,713 without other charges.

But with the challenges of getting dollars, it is expected that importers will have to price the new phone at the black market rate before adding other charges.

On Tuesday, September 13, the black market rate was N705 to the dollar, implying that a new iPhone could start at N774,795 and go up from there if additional charges are included.

A report even suggested that iPhone 14 Pro pricing in Nigeria will be around NGN1,440,000 in Lagos and NGN1,540,000 outside Lagos for the 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM.

An example based on this suggested report, any Nigerian earning N30,000 the national minimum salary, who chooses to proceed would need to work for at least three years. That is if the employee decides to save his or her whole 48-month pay.

This leaves us asking how people who do not earn up to 30,000 have been able to afford iPhones in the past.
