Ukwa East is due for this as well.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has restored electricity to 33 communities in Ukwa West Local Government Area, ending nine years of prolonged blackout in the oil producing axis of the state.

The power restoration project was executed by the Abia State Government through the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, under the supervision of the Ministry of Power and Public Utilities. The project fulfilled a commitment made by the Governor to the people of Ukwa West in March 2025.

With due respect, governance is not charity-The House of Assembly member representing Ukwa, visit to Ohuru-Ndoki Community with five bags of rice and ₦250,000 for an entire village, alongside "promises that projects will be completed before his tenure ends." This is deeply concerning.
For the past months nothing tangible has been done asides stomach infrastructures here and there.

The people did not vote for handouts; they voted for service delivery, infrastructure, accountability, and visible development. Temporary relief items cannot replace abandoned projects, poor roads, lack of basic amenities, and unfulfilled campaign promises.

Public office is a position of responsibility, not seasonal generosity. Communities deserve results, not last-minute assurances or symbolic gestures meant for optics.

The public deserves to ask:
What has been done since assumption of office?
Why are promises still being made instead of projects being commissioned?

Leadership is measured by impact, not by bags of rice.

Title: Why the Ohuru–Obohia Road deserves more than being Graded (And Why It’s the Right Decision).

As works have began across many internal roads in Ukwa East, we have received questions about the Ohuru–Obohia Road.

🚫 The Ohuru–Obohia Road should not undergo ordinary grading.
Here’s why:

🔹 It is a major connecting route linking Ukwa East to several other LGAs.
🔹 It can carry/carries heavy daily traffic—commercial, agricultural, and inter-community movement.
🔹 A simple grading would not last, and would amount to wasteful spending.
🔹 The road requires a full engineering workup, proper base construction, and a durable finish.

This aligns with the long-term infrastructural standards set by Governor Alex Otti, who has emphasized quality over temporary fixes.

Hon. Chibunna Akara is committed to ensuring the road is handled with the full attention and technical depth it deserves, not a surface-level intervention.
