How To Use a Fire Extinguisher
P.A.S.S.
It's easy to remember how to use a fire extinguisher if you can remember the acronym PASS, which stands for
Pull
Aim
Squeeze,
and Sweep.
1. Pull the Pin.
This will allow you to discharge the extinguisher.
2. Aim at the Fire.
Aim at the base of the fire.
If you aim at the flames (which is frequently the temptation), the extinguishing agent will fly right through and do no good. You want to hit the fuel.
3. Squeeze the Handle
Squeeze the top handle or lever.
This depresses a button that releases the pressurized extinguishing agent in the extinguisher.
4. Sweep Side to Side
Sweep from side to side.
Until the fire is completely out. Start using the extinguisher from a safe distance away, then move forward. Once the fire is out, keep an eye on the area in case it re-ignites.

INDISCRIMINATE BUSH BURNING CAN MAKE YOU LOOSE YOUR PROPERTIES
Good people, let's be informed that about 60% of the fire outbreaks we fought within this dry season was as a result of INDISCRIMINATE BUSH BURNING that easily spread to structures.
Majority of the bush burning occurred in rural communities where residents especially hunters indiscriminately set fire on bushes during the dry season.
👉Many times, residents especially hunters put fire in bushes and leave it unattended.
👉Sometimes, one will carelessly or ignorantly throw away cigarette-ends into nearby bush
We should all take our time to cut all bushes to at least five (5) feet away from our residential homes, Schools, Churches, Markets and Offices. If it is not done, fire can easily spread from there to any closest structure.
There is need to discourage residents from embarking on bush burning. Residents, especially hunters should desist from setting bushes on fire indiscriminately, to avert fire disasters.
The harmattan is still here and I just thought to enlighten us about it's danger as regards fire outbreak.
Do you know that more fires are recorded during this period? The extreme dryness of the weather as a result of loss in moisture content together with fluctuations in temperature results in fire outbreaks almost everyday.
A little spark can wreck havoc of a lifetime on lives and properties that can never be recovered, no thanks to the above mentioned factors. In as much as we can never be too careful when it comes to total prevention of fire, the following should be observed to minimize fire outbreaks in our homes and offices.
🔥Be cautious when handling and using cooking Gas cylinders, avoid keeping your gas cylinder in the kitchen,it is very danjelous.

🔥 Avoid storing Premium motor spirit (Fuel) carelessly, its smell together with the temperature at the moment can trigger a fire and cause untold loss in the twinkle of an eye .

THE DRY SEASON IS HERE
We are in the dry season, and there is need for us to be careful on how we handle fire at this period so as not to bring about fire Incidents.
Between November and March, a lot of fire outbreaks are often recorded since there is dry wind, which makes it easy for fire to spread at the slightest ignition.
To avoid fire outbreak dur
Bushes close to people’s surroundings should be cleared to avoid sudden fire outbreak as a result of careless Bush burning.
Those who are in the habit of hunting for bush rats should take caution not to set farmlands on fire in order to smoke out rodents.
Gas stations, fuel depots and public and private buildings should ensure that they have fire extinguishers handy as a first aid in case of any fire incident.
All electrical appliances not in use should be switched off and removed from the sockets to prevent electrical sparks from power surge
Use of candle and firewood to light the house at night should minimize, while torchlight or rechargeable lamp should be used instead.
Do not leave burning things unattended to. Some people burn their refuse and leave as soon as they ignite the fire. This is dangerous, as the fire could go beyond burning just the refuse.
