On Thursday, July, 28 2022 The Special Adviser to the President on EoDB visited the MD , Dr Tony Okpanachi to discuss areas of collaboration around targeted advocacy for MSMEs.

DBN’s mandate is lending to financial institutions for on-lending to MSMEs, which perfectly aligns with the PEBEC mandate of improving the ease of doing business in Nigeria for MSMEs, including through reforms targeting improved access to credit.

We are excited to partner with DBN going forward as we continue to deliver reforms that enable MSMEs to thrive in Nigeria.

On Tuesday, July 26, The Special Adviser the President on the Ease of Doing Business, Dr Jumoke Oduwole delivered an update presentation to the Nigerian Governors' Forum (NGF) members on the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms Program (SABER).

The proposed World Bank SABER program, with technical support from other stakeholders, promises to deepen EoDB reforms implementation at the Subnational level over the next three years.

On July 20, 2022, the Business Facilitation (Miscellaneous Provision) Bill 2022, also known as the “Omnibus Bill” passed Second Reading at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Bill is an intervention of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) aimed at consolidating and amending outdated legislative provisions towards removing bottlenecks for micro, small and medium enterprises.

It also seeks to ensure the sustainability of business climate and give statutory force to Executive Order 001 of 2017 on the promotion of Transparency and Efficiency in the Business.

The Federal Executive Council approved the bill on March 23, 2022, which was a culmination of 4 years of collaborative work by public and private sector stakeholders in the legal community anchored by the PEBEC through a sub-committee led by the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation, and implemented by a technical working group with the Federal Ministry of Justice legal drafting team and representatives from leading law firms and consultancy firms.

On Thursday, July 7 2022 Dr Jumoke Oduwole paid a working visit to the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Prof Charles Soludo, CFR.

The purpose of the meeting was to update the new administration on subnational ease of doing business interventions.

The EoDB team led by SSG, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu and other members of the team Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, Mr Obiora Obiabunmo and the EBES team were in attendance.

PEBEC remains committed to making Nigeria a progressively easier place to do business.

On April 5, 2022, the Special Adviser to the President on the EoDB, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, attended a symposium marking the 12th Anniversary of EiE (Enough is Enough) themed “On Debates & Democracy” in Abuja. EiE is a non-partisan network of individuals and organizations dedicated to active citizenship in Nigeria in order to establish a culture of good governance and public accountability.

The sessions discussed the role of the media in encouraging political engagement and accountability, and the importance of debates at all levels of elections in influencing citizens’ voting decisions through political education.

“Political debates are like job interviews. Persons interested in applying for roles to serve Nigerians should make the time to show up, well prepared, to tell us how they will govern.”

The Hon Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Executive Director of EiE, Yemi Adamolekun, the moderator, Olusegun Adeniyi, journalist and former presidential spokesman, and the keynote speaker Janet Brown, Executive Director of the Presidential Debates Commission, were in attendance along with other invited physical and virtual guests.

On March 24, 2022, The Project Manager of PEBEC secretariat, Mr. Ayokunnu Ojeniyi and members of the EBES team held a meeting with the Head of servicom of Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO), Mr. Julius Iwuafor, Officer A. A Akene, Nasiru H.P and other officials of the Agency.
