Yesterday morning, a 6.3-magnitude earthquake shook western Afghanistan, once again devastating the lives of children and families already coping with multiple crises.

UNICEF and our partners are on the ground, distributing critical supplies like blankets and tarpaulins for those who lost their homes.

We've set up tents to provide extra space for overburdened health clinics. We're distributing family hygiene kits and other household items.

We do not yet know the full extent of the destruction, but initial estimates indicate that several hundred people lost their lives or were injured.

We are sending our heartfelt condolences to the mourning families and we wish those injured a quick recovery.

Posted • "I am deeply concerned for the wellbeing of children in Israel and the State of Palestine.

With hundreds of civilians reportedly killed or injured, we are closely monitoring the situation for reports of grave rights violations committed against children.

Today’s events continue the trend of spikes in violence that have wracked Israel and the State of Palestine, leaving 199 children dead and more than 2,800 injured in the last three years.

UNICEF calls for the immediate cessation of hostilities, and for all parties to protect children from harm and afford them the special protection to which they are entitled, in accordance with their obligations under international humanitarian law.

More than anything, the children of Israel and the State of Palestine need a lasting political solution to the crisis, so that they can grow up in peace and free from the shadow of violence.”

Statement by UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell on violence in Israel and the State of Palestine.

A safe space to learn, heal and play.

That’s what UNICEF is providing for children in Sudan who have been displaced due to the ongoing conflict in the country.

Child-friendly spaces provide children with mental health support, e-learning, clean water and health care.

The future of work is constantly evolving and heavily influenced by technological advancements, socio-economic changes, and cultural shifts.

Two things young people should watch out for:

Automation and artificial intelligence are transforming the nature of work. Routine tasks are being automated, freeing up time for employees to focus on more complex and creative work.

The demand for skilled workers will continue to increase, and young people will need to continuously upskill and reskill to stay relevant in the job market. ; ; .century.skills;
