The Philippine Embassy in Abuja warmly received Philippine delegates attending the 2026 Destiny Recovery Convention (DRC) hosted by Dunamis International Gospel Centre at the Glory Dome in Abuja, Nigeria, on 26 -31 May 2026. Ambassador Mersole J. Mellejor met with officials of the Directorate for Asia-Pacific Affairs and OIC Relations and the Directorate for UN and Decentralized Relations of the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX) of the Republic of Cameroon in Yaoundรฉ on 28 May 2026. These meetings reaffirmed the commitments of both countries in further strengthening their cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels. This year marks and important milestone as the two (2) countries commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The Philippine Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, has launched the observance of the Philippine Flag Days 2026 from 28 May to 12 June. During this period, citizens, schools, government offices and business establishments across the country display the Philippine flag prominently. Ambassador Mersole J. Mellejor received the representatives of Naija4Sho Worldwide Inc. LLC to discuss possible collaboration in the implementation of Naija4Show - a platform aimed at showcasing Nigeria's rich cultural heritage and creative industries abroad. The Philippines is chosen as the first leg for the event's pilot tour in Asia, tentatively set in July 2026. The Naija4Sho has the potential to align with the mission of the Philippine Embassy in Abuja and also the Nigerian Embassy in Manila in further enhancing bilateral relations between the two (2) democracies. The Philippines and Nigeria are similarly known for their diverse and rich cultures, a prominent entertainment sector and a fast growing creative industry powered by young and dynamic populations. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

The Philippine Embassy attended the Northern Film Summit and Turkish-Nigeria Film Screening Festival held at the Yunus Emre Institute and Turkish chancery in Abuja on 14-15 May 2026. The two-day event was jointly organized by the Turkish Embassy and the convenors of the Kaduna International Film Festival with the theme "Bridging Cultures Through Cinema: A Northern Nigeria - Turkiye Creative Exchange and Cinematic Collaboration.
