History was made on 22nd November, 2019 at International Conference centre, Abuja. 550 women beneficiaries of our 2 weeks training was rewarded with N100,000 each for their start-up, by Elizabeth Jack-Rich Foundation in collaboration with Belema oil/NNPC joint venture!

The short video above was taken during the dignitaries tour to the stands where the products from the training was displayed.

We've been working with women in WASA IDP since last year, providing vocational trainings, anticipating to get startup kit to support them.
We are grateful that 70 of them were part of the recipient of the reward from the foundation, while we continue to seek for more support for other women who were not part of the event.

Women economic empowerment is very vital for development of any Nation. When you empower a woman, the family is empowered, so also the community and the Nation at large.
Expect more news from our new innovation and partnerships!

We are grateful to Elizabeth Jack-Rich Aid foundation, in collaboration with NNPC/Belema Oil joint Venture and Belema Aid foundation in training 1100 women in Abuja and Port Harcourt.

The event started on 11th November with opening ceremony which took place at A Class Park.
The event was graced with dignitaries from National Assembly, MD Belema Oil, Mr. Pedro J. Diaz, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Jack-Rich Tien and many others.
The event was coordinated by SMEDAN, who is also our Partner.

We were excited about this laudable project at this particular time because of the people involved.
We can only reduce poverty in Nigeria by investing in our women and youth!
Dr. Elizabeth and her partners understands the need to invest in women and its effect in the society, that was why they initiated the project, livelihood support to hard to reach women.

The training and empowerment program brought together widows, vulnerable women, including 70 women that we profiled from WASA IDP camp last month, all the participants were from different parts of Abuja. Some of them were from Kwali, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Abuja Municipal Area Councils. They all assembled at A Class Park for 2 weeks training and empowerment on various Vocational skills and Entrepreneurship training.
We facilitated the following programs: Leather works, Fashion, Hand craft and Beading. We had 50 beneficiaries in each class.

The above picture is Phelyn Team with the Founder of Elizabeth Jack-Rich Aid Foundation during the opening ceremony, with other pictures at the event.

Watch out for more updates!

We were consulted to profile some women from WASA IDP camp for training and empowerment late last week by a Foundation.
The training will take place next month, for two weeks.

We send the cheering news to the camp and scheduled to meet today, as we needed to give them time to get their passport photographs ready.

As early as 9:00am today, we arrived WASA for the profiling.
We met one of our beneficiaries making doughnut for sales.
Our surprise was her creativity around the whole thing.
You can see part of what I'm talking about from the picture!
She used the back of her tray to roll out the dough, and used bottle as her rolling pin.
That's not all, she used cup with perfect round tip to cutout the dough and also used bottle tip to make the hole at the center of the dough.

We watched her keenly carrying out these tasks alone in her small hut with mixed feelings.

She's eager and strong willed to liberate herself from poverty!
We expect more of this type of resilient from other women after their empowerment.

Keep faith with us as we will be bringing our activities across to you more often!

February 2017, women across the globe gathered in Hilton Bomanti Turkey for Women Vendor Exhibition and Forum.
Our Executive Director was part of that gathering!

We discovered that market was one of the problems of our beneficiaries, and we decided to look for solution to that effect.

At the forum, she engaged with men and women who indicated interests in what we're doing and also engaged with the organizers of the event, SheTrade.
She eventually joined ITC SheTrade for the primary purpose of connecting our beneficiaries to international market.

Last year, she was invited to join SheTrade in Commonwealth project. This project is aimed at job creation in Commonwealth countries by increasing the participation of women owned businesses in international trade.

Today, we happy to announce that she has completed the capacity building and ready to join the Federal Government in lifting millions of Nigerians out of poverty.

Our Executive Director, Evelyn Ifeyinwa Ezeagu, has been selected as a World Pulse Ambassador!
This is as a result of her humanitarian support to women in her community.

A little background on her journey as a World Pulse member.
She joined World Pulse in 2016, when she was receiving training as Intel SheWillConnect Trainer.
Since then, she has been part of the movement and has been active in supporting and raising women voices around her community and on the site.

She was part of Women on the Web project. A project of World Pulse, aimed at supporting and encouraging youth on how to utilize their mobile phones productively. The youth's were introduced to Free Basics, where they can learn and develop themselves. They were also introduced on how to use Facebook even without data.
Such a laudable project I must confess!

She is a World Pulse Encourager, this recognition is given to members for their support to other Sisters on the platform.
She has also served as a Mentor, to support upcoming Social Enterprise.

Finally, she's one of the chosen World Pulse Ambassadors!
We thank God for this height and we appreciate World Pulse for counting on us.

Its all about service to Humanity, our support and sacrifices to put smiles on other people's face.
Join the movement today!

We thank God for a successful outing at WASA IDP settlement.
The women were anxious to learn and eager to start up their own business.

Women and children in IDP needs urgent support. Most of these women are idle and their children are out of school.
We believe that if these women are supported, they can take care of their children and support their education as well.

We are also looking at the community as a whole and the sustainability of their businesses. WASA is a small community, made up of smallholder farmers. There's know electricity in that community and they have only 2 Bohol's in the entire community.
They produce maize and different types of Beans.
We've carried out a research on their processes and handling earlier this year.

We are considering integrating the community into sustainable Agribusiness by strengthening their processes through value addition and connecting them to market.
The story continues!

It was an awesome experience with our women at the camp today.
We had a full session with Abuja Enterprise Agency toping it up with Entrepreneurship training with local dialect (Hausa language).
My inspiration above all, was that these women will be supported by the Agency. This way, we can monitor and evaluate their progress. They were equally excited as their concerns about water was addressed by the representative from the Agency and his assurances.
We value our collaboration with all our Partners, we can't achieve much on our own without their support.
We are also extending our regards to the entire staff and volunteers that helped us from training to distribution of food. You guys rock!
I must mention some names; Florence, Ngozi, Ifetayo, Mazi, Agatha, Friday, Serah and others. Counting on you guys, let's do this one more time!
Looking forward to the concluding part of the livelihood support activities tomorrow!
Join us once again!

Join us as we reach out to support women in WASA IDP settlement.
We are greatful to partner with Abuja Enterprise Agency on this second phase.
This is the concluding part of the project which was launched, December 13th -14th last year.

It all started as a result of the frequent news from various IDP camps on how women were being violated because of food. We felt we could help by training some of the women on income generating activities to support their livelihood.

We had to fund raise for the first time on Global Giving, and the proceeds was used to start the project.

We can't be greatful enough to our Partner Global Giving for their support. 90% of the funds we generated came from outside Nigeria. That single effort also won us the partnership we're enjoying today.
