~Zulum visits aviation minister as Maiduguri airport upgrades to international status.
~Distinguished Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan SAN accompanied his Excellency Gov. Zulum to meet aviation minister.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has assured the minister of aviation and aerospace, Mr Festus Keyamo, of his administration's support as the ministry announced a plan to upgrade the Muhammadu Buhari Airport, Maiduguri, to international status.
Zulum gave the assurance on Monday during a visit to the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
“As the chairman of northeast governor’s and this is our first International Airport, I want to assure of the political will needed to ensure the implementation of this laudable stride,” Zulum said.
The governor emphasised that Maiduguri being a gateway for most countries around Lake Chad and Central Africa, would stimulate economic development in the northeast region by upgrading the airport.
Speaking earlier, the aviation minister assured that Muhammadu Buhari Airport would take off as a full International Airport on January 1, 2025, noting that all the takeoff preparations have been concluded and that relevant government agencies have been notified of the development.
The minister expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the upgrade of Muhammadu Buhari Airport, Maiduguri, stressing that of all the geopolitical zones, only the northeast has no full International airport in the country.
Zulum was accompanied on the visit by senators Mohammed Ali Ndume, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, and Kaka Shehu Lawan, who represent Borno South, North and Central, respectively.
Borno APC Chairman Hon. Bello Ayuba, Deputy Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Engr Abdullahi Musa Askira and other senior government officials were also present on the visit.

Good news for the people of Borno Central as the Bill sponsored by Distinguish Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan SAN on 5th October 2023 which seeks for the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Bama, Borno State, (SB. 185) is up for public hearing.on Thursday 24th October at Room 117 Senate New Building by 12 noon.
This is almost the final leg of a legislature Procedure that will see to the establishment of the proposed university.
Positive contributions are expected at the hearing.

~ Gov Zulum Resettled Returnees with food and nonfood items after allocating houses to 500 household.
~Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan SAN, joins Gov. Zulum and comments his efforts.
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum's recent efforts to resettle internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Konduga, Borno State, are truly commendable. He has resettled 500 IDPs with over 2900 family members, marking the closure of the camp in the area, and commissioned a 500-unit housing estate. This is part of his administration's goal to close all IDP camps before the end of his tenure.
Resettlement Efforts of Gov. Zulum
- The governor provided each beneficiary with essential items, including food, non-food items, and cash (N50,000 for male and female household leaders, and N20,000 for each wife).
- An additional 500 housing units will be completed before next year to settle communities along the Dalwa axis and Damboa-Biu Road.
- Reconstruction of Awulari Village will commence soon.
- The Sandiya community will be settled soon, as planned.
- The College of Business and Management Studies in Konduga will be constructed on its permanent site.
Highlights in the governor's remarks:
- The governor emphasized the need for planting trees in the new estate.
- Beneficiaries are not allowed to sell their allocated houses.
- Agriculture activities will be supported for sustainable livelihood.
Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan SAN joined Gov. Zulum in Konduga and comments the governor for his dedication and effort to resettled back all the IDPs back to their ancestral homes.

Distinguished Senator Kaka Shehu Extends Relief of N50,000,000M to Flood Victims in Maiduguri
In a demonstration of solidarity, compassion and compliments to the efforts of Borno State Governor, the Senator Representing Borno Central Barr Kaka Shehu has announced a significant donation of N50,000,000M (Fifty million Naira) to flood victims in Maiduguri which was aimed to alleviate the suffering and hardships faced by those affected by the recent flooding. .
Senator Kaka Shehu, a prominent figure in Borno, expressed deep concern for the plight of the flood victims and emphasized the importance of providing immediate relief.
As the flood situation continues to calm down, Senator Shehu has pledged to remain closely involved in the relief efforts and provide ongoing support to the affected communities.

Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan Sympathizes With Bama Flood Victims, Provide Relief Materials.
In what could be described as a prompt response to the victims of flood disaster that ravaged and displaced communities in Bama, the senator representing Borno Central Senatorial District Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan has sent a delegation to commiserate with the affected and provide succour.
Delivering Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan's heartfelt sympathy to the flood victims who converged in Abuja Ward of Bama local government, leader of the delegation who is also the senator's aide Hon Mustapha Mbusube (Alai Yabulay3) described any calamity that can displaced people from their communities as disturbing, and call on the victims to always have faith in the will of Allah especially when such disaster is natural.
Hon. Mbusube further said Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan received the news of the disaster that befell Bama communities with shock and he did not waste time in identifying with their predicament.
To assuage their suffering, the delegation had delivered 1000 pieces of blankets, 1000 mats and 1000 pieces of treated mosquito net as part of Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan's widow's mite to the victims.
Additionally, the Senator has promised to liaise with the relevant federal government agency to assess the level of damage with a view to providing support to the victims so that they will be resettled in their ancestral homes.
Responding, the executive Chairman of Bama local government Alhaji Modu Ali Gujja expressed appreciation to senator Kaka Shehu Lawan for his prompt response to the victims of the flood disaster. The chairman went on to say Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan's support to Bama as part of his constituency can never be emphasized. Worthy of note is his recent motion and passing through second reading of the bill seeking for the establishment of federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Development in Bama
Highlights of the event was the symbolic presentation of the relief items to the victims and a word of appreciation from one of them.
Those who witnessed the event were the vice chairman of Bama local government Hon Babagana Yusuf Banki, Party Chieftains and Ward heads.
