LG Poll: APC reconciles aggrieved members in Akwa Ibom

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom has unified its aggrieved members, determined to make a significant impact in the upcoming local government elections on October 5.

The party acknowledged that some members were still aggrieved due to internal conflicts during last year's elections, which resulted in the party's candidates losing.

At a reconciliation meeting in Uyo on Sunday, Senator Ita Enang, Chairman of the Reconciliation Committee, urged former candidates and aspirants to put aside their grievances and rebuild the party to win all 31 local governments.

He commended them for attending the meeting, expressing delight that their presence demonstrated confidence and faith in the party despite internal differences.

Enang stated, "Senate President Godswill Akpabio has mandated me to apologize for any pain caused by the party's conduct in the last elections."

He acknowledged the members' investments in the party and the shared experience of loss.

Enang emphasized the importance of unity, saying, "In party matters, there will be pain and hurt. We must come together and build the party, as there is a brighter future for the party and the people."

The APC Chieftain extended appreciation from Senate President Akpabio and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the party faithful, recognizing their contributions to the party's success in the state.

Meanwhile, APC State Chairman Stephen Ntukekpo advised party members to remain focused and strengthen the party.

Represented by Deputy Chairman David Umoessien, Ntukekpo expressed confidence in the party's dominance and impending victory in the forthcoming elections, despite the current control by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chief Ita Toyo, a Reconciliation Committee member, stressed the importance of reconciliation, saying, "Although expressing grievances is necessary, reconciliation benefits the party."

However, the aggrieved members resolved to put aside their differences and foster unity to ensure the party's success in the upcoming local government elections.

Other reconciliation committee members present included Dr. Emmanuel Akpanobong, Prof. Etok Ekanem, Engr. Ita Awak, and Pastor Uduakabasi Ikpat as Secretary.

Jack Ma once said, 'When Selling to close friends and family, no matter how much you're selling to them, they will always feel you're earning their money, no matter how cheap you sell to them, they still wouldn't appreciate it.'
There will always be people who do not care about your Costs, Time, Effort, they rather let other people cheat them, allowing others to earn, then supporting someone they know. Cause in their heart, they will always be thinking, 'How much did he earn from me?' instead of "How much did he SAVE/MAKE for me?"
This is a classic example of a poor person's mentality!

Jack Ma on Sales: 'When doing Sales, the first people who will trust you will be Strangers, Friends will be shielding against you, fair-weather friends will distance from you. Family will look down upon you.'

The day you finally succeed, paying the bill for every get-together dinner, entertainment, you will realised: Everyone else is present except the Strangers.

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

PRESIDENT TINUBU WELCOMES SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT AFFIRMING CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

President Bola Tinubu welcomes the decision of the Supreme Court of Nigeria affirming the spirit, intent, and purpose of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the statutory rights of local governments.

The President states that a fundamental challenge to the nation's advancement over the years has been ineffective local government administration, as governance at the critical cellular level of socio-political configuration is nearly absent.

The President emphasizes that the onus is now on local council leaders to ensure that the broad spectrum of Nigerians living at that level are satisfied that they are benefitting from people-oriented service delivery.

"The Renewed Hope Agenda is about the people of this country, at all levels, irrespective of faith, tribe, gender, political affiliation, or any other artificial line they say exists between us. This country belongs to all of us. By virtue of this judgement, our people - especially the poor - will be able to hold their local leaders to account for their actions and inactions. What is sent to local government accounts will be known, and services must now be provided without excuses.

"My administration instituted this suit because of our unwavering belief that our people must have relief and today's judgement will ensure that it will be only those local officials elected by the people that will control the resources of the people. This judgement stands as a resounding affirmation that we can use legitimate means of redress to restructure our country and restructure our economy to make Nigeria a better place to live in and a fairer society for all of our people," President Tinubu states.

President Tinubu notes that the provision of some essential amenities and public goods, such as the construction and maintenance of certain roads, streets, street lighting, drains, parks, gardens, open spaces, and other residual responsibilities, including community security, has tottered owing to the emasculation of local governments.

The President affirms that the decision of the Supreme Court to uphold the constitutional rights and ideals of local governments as regards financial autonomy, and other salient principles, is of historic significance and further reinforces the effort to enhance Nigeria's true federal fabric for the development of the entire nation.

President Tinubu commends the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) for his diligence and patriotic effort on this important assignment.

The President states that his administration remains committed to protecting the principles of the charter governing citizens, institutions of government, arms, and tiers of government in furtherance of building an efficient and performance-driven governance system that works for every Nigerian.
