Through its dedicated efforts, the Embassy successfully facilitated strategic engagements between Nigeria’s powerhouse multimedia and film production company FilmOne Entertainment, key players within Namibia’s private sector, and globally renowned Namibian artist and entrepreneur Gazza of GMP Productions.

This collaboration marks a significant step toward fostering cross-border partnerships, unlocking new opportunities in film, music, and digital content production, and positioning Namibia’s creative talent on the global stage.

By bridging industry leaders from both nations, the initiative reinforces a shared vision of innovation, cultural exchange, and sustainable growth for Africa’s creative economy.

On 03 March 2026, H.E. Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, Namibia’s High Commissioner-Designate, held a strategic engagement with Helen Okon Ekpenyong, Editor-in-Chief of Business Review Africa Magazine and Host of Africa Today.

The discussions focused on organizing a high-level conference and cultural exhibition to showcase Namibia’s investment opportunities, trade prospects, women’s empowerment achievements, and rich cultural heritage. The initiative aims to engage Nigerian government officials, business leaders, and investors.

The collaboration reflects Namibia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, promoting investment, and leveraging media and culture to advance Africa’s shared development agenda.

Courtesy Call on the Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Federal Republic of Nigeria

The High Commissioner–Designate of the Republic of Namibia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, paid a courtesy call on Jose Bamoquina Zau, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Nigeria.

The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere and provided an opportunity for the two Heads of Mission to reflect on the long-standing, historic, and enduring bonds between Namibia and Angola, forged during the difficult days of the liberation struggle and sustained through decades of close solidarity and cooperation. Both Ambassadors underscored that these shared experiences have laid a firm foundation for the excellent bilateral relations enjoyed by the two sister republics today.

Discussions further focused on ways to deepen and broaden cooperation, with the High Commissioner–Designate emphasizing the importance of advancing economic diplomacy as a key pillar of contemporary bilateral engagement. In this regard, the two sides exchanged views on promoting trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, while leveraging regional integration frameworks to unlock mutual economic opportunities.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest, as well as to advancing African solidarity and cooperation within the diplomatic community, in line with the common vision of a prosperous, peaceful, and integrated Africa.

Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, High Commissioner–Designate of the Republic of Namibia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Cameroon and the Republic of Chad, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Abakar Saleh Chahaimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Chad to Nigeria.

The meeting, held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, provided an opportunity for the two Heads of Mission to exchange views on strengthening and expanding bilateral relations between Namibia and Chad, anchored on shared African values and mutual interests.

Discussions focused, inter alia, on the initiation of a Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC) as an institutional framework to structure and advance bilateral engagement. The two Ambassadors also explored the prospects of a Visa Waiver Agreement to facilitate official travel, business mobility, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as procedural matters relating to the presentation of Letters of Credence.

Within the broader continental context, both parties underscored the importance of aligning bilateral cooperation with the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), particularly in promoting intra-African trade, investment, market access, and value-chain development. In this regard, emphasis was placed on identifying strategic sectors where cooperation could deliver tangible economic and developmental outcomes.

The engagement concluded with a mutual reaffirmation of commitment to work closely together to deepen Namibia–Chad relations, while contributing to the advancement of African economic integration, solidarity, and effective multilateral cooperation within the diplomatic community.

On 18 February 2026, Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, High Commissioner-Designate of the Republic of Namibia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, received Hope Ehiogie, Chief Executive Officer of Enived Travel Limited, for a courtesy and business engagement.

The meeting focused on opportunities to strengthen tourism cooperation and cultural exchange between Namibia and Nigeria, with particular emphasis on harnessing private-sector expertise to expand bilateral travel opportunities and diversify tourism offerings.

The High Commissioner-Designate reaffirmed Namibia’s strong interest in developing mutually beneficial partnerships with reputable Nigerian tourism operators. He underscored the importance of such collaborations in enhancing tourism flows, stimulating economic activity, and deepening people-to-people relations between the two countries.

Mr. Ehiogie highlighted Enived Travel Limited’s extensive experience in designing innovative travel products and promoting destinations internationally. He expressed the company’s readiness to collaborate with Namibian public and private stakeholders to develop joint initiatives that showcase the diverse cultural heritage and natural attractions of both Namibia and Nigeria.

The discussions concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about future collaboration aimed at expanding tourism markets, fostering economic growth, and strengthening bilateral relations through shared travel and hospitality experiences.

In this regard, Mr. Ehiogie committed to submitting two formal cooperation proposals for the Mission’s consideration.

Selestine Gervas Kakele, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Nigeria, on 18 February 2026.

The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere and provided an opportunity for the two Heads of Mission to exchange views on further strengthening and deepening the longstanding and fraternal relations between the Republic of Namibia and the United Republic of Tanzania.

In his remarks, the High Commissioner–Designate made specific reference to the historic and enduring bonds between the two countries, dating back to the liberation struggle, when Tanzania played a pivotal role by hosting liberation movement training at Kongwa. He further recalled that Namibia’s current President, H.E. Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, served as the SWAPO Representative in Tanzania during that formative period—an enduring symbol of the solidarity and shared sacrifices that underpin bilateral relations to this day.

Building on this strong historical foundation, the High Commissioner–Designate emphasized the imperative for both countries to now focus on the economic emancipation of their peoples. In this regard, he underscored the importance of leveraging opportunities within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area, particularly through enhanced trade, investment, and private-sector collaboration.

Both Heads of Mission expressed a shared commitment to expanding cooperation in mutually beneficial areas and to advancing African solidarity and cooperation within the diplomatic community. H.E. Kakele conveyed his warm support and best wishes to the High Commissioner–Designate for a successful tour of duty and reaffirmed Tanzania’s readiness to continue working closely with Namibia in pursuit of shared continental objectives.

New Year Reception | Abuja – 17 February 2026

H.E. Mr. Walde Natangwe Ndevashiya, High Commissioner-Designate of the Republic of Namibia, joined members of the diplomatic community accredited to the Federal Republic of Nigeria at a New Year Reception hosted by H.E. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In his address, the Honourable Minister outlined Nigeria’s Foreign Policy Outlook for 2026, reaffirming Nigeria’s role as a confident, stabilising, and constructive global actor amid evolving geopolitical challenges.

Nigeria’s foreign policy in 2026 will be guided by three core priorities:
• Strategic Autonomy – safeguarding national interests through balanced global partnerships;
• Regional Stability – advancing peace, security, and democratic resilience in West Africa and the Sahel;
• Responsible Global Partnership – promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and rules-based engagement.

Reviewing 2025, Nigeria highlighted strengthened economic diplomacy, expanded investment outreach, and deeper regional integration efforts, alongside reinforced partnerships across the Global South, the Middle East, Europe, the United States, and Asia.

On regional security, Nigeria underscored the importance of coordinated, outcome-driven approaches to addressing Sahelian security challenges, while advancing democratic resilience through institutional cooperation and preventive engagement.

The Minister also noted encouraging macroeconomic reforms that have improved investor confidence and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to credible democratic processes, in collaboration with partners and institutions such as Independent National Electoral Commission.

Nigeria further reiterated its strong commitment to multilateralism and its candidatures for key international bodies, while emphasising adherence to diplomatic protocol through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the primary channel of engagement.

Nigeria enters 2026 committed to peace, economic integration, democratic governance, and constructive international cooperation, in close partnership with the diplomatic community.

On the sidelines of the Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC), held in Lagos on 10 February 2026, the High Commissioner held a meeting with the Managing Director of Solewant Group.

The meeting aimed to gain deeper insight into the operations and strategic vision of Solewant Group, particularly following the company’s recent establishment of a presence in Namibia.

Solewant Group is a leading Nigerian industrial conglomerate headquartered in Port Harcourt, with core expertise in oil, gas, and energy infrastructure. The company operates Africa’s largest multi-layer pipe coating facility in Rivers State, delivering high-performance pipeline coating, fabrication, and advanced anti-corrosion solutions to the energy sector.

Discussions focused on opportunities for Solewant Group to expand and consolidate its footprint in Namibia, especially within the country’s emerging oil and gas industry. Both parties explored prospects for forging mutually beneficial partnerships and promoting Solewant Group’s suite of high-performance pipeline fabrication, coating, and energy infrastructure solutions in the Namibian market.

As part of its commitment to capacity building and human capital development in the energy sector, Solewant Group presented its comprehensive training programmes. These are designed to respond to the evolving needs of the industry while accommodating diverse learning preferences through a blended approach that combines physical and online training modalities, supported by state-of-the-art professional training technologies.

In response, the High Commissioner proposed the establishment of cooperation frameworks with the Namibia Training Authority and the Namibia College of Arts, with a view to facilitating skills transfer, workforce development, and sustainable capacity building in Namibia’s energy sector.

To advance the outcomes of the engagement, a joint committee was established to follow up on agreed strategies and develop an implementation timeline. The committee will serve as the operational framework for the partnership, tasked with identifying key priorities, allocating responsibilities, setting performance benchmarks, and designing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track progress against agreed milestones.

The meeting concluded with Solewant Group extending an invitation to the High Commissioner to visit its facilities in Port Harcourt, underscoring the company’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and deepening engagement with Namibia.
