EID EL-KABIR CELEBRATIONS AND SECURITY ADVISORY

ZONE 7 HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA

As Muslim faithfuls across the country celebrate the Eid El-Kabir festivities, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja AIG Victor Olaiya psc(+), urges all residents of the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State Police commands to celebrate peacefully, responsibly, and remain security conscious throughout the festive period.

While encouraging citizens to enjoy the season with loved ones, members of the public are advised to observe the following safety measures:

• Avoid reckless driving and comply strictly with traffic regulations.
• Remain vigilant in crowded places such as mosques, markets, recreation centres and event grounds.
• Report suspicious persons, movements, or objects to the nearest police station immediately.
• Parents and guardians should closely monitor their children and wards at all times.
• Ensure homes, shops and properties are properly secured when travelling.

The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, remains fully committed to ensuring a peaceful, safe and hitch-free celebration. Adequate security personnel and operational assets have been strategically deployed across the FCT and Niger State to guarantee public safety and maintain law and order.

POLICE RECRUITMENT: WRITTEN EXAMINATION HOLDS 28–30 APRIL AS PSC WARNS AGAINST SCAMS

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has fixed 28-30 April 2026 for the written examination for applicants seeking enlistment as Police Constables (for both General Duty and Specialist applicants). The exercise will take place at designated centres across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Only candidates who successfully passed the physical and credentials screening are eligible. Qualified applicants are to log on to www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng from Friday 24 April 2026 to print their Examination Invitation Card, which indicates the specific date, time and venue of their test.

Required items on exam day:

1. A pen
2. National Identification Number (NIN) Slip from NIMC (with clear photograph)
3. Printed Examination Invitation Card
4. Dress Code: White shorts, white T‑shirt and white canvas.

The Police Service Commission reiterates that the recruitment process is entirely free and warns that any form of job racketeering, scams, or financial inducement will be met with the full force of the law.

PRESS STATEMENT

RE: RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS OF EXTORTION BY CYBERCRIME PERSONNEL

The attention of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya psc(+), has been drawn to a social media post currently in circulation alleging acts of extortion by personnel of the Cybercrime Section of the Zone.

It is pertinent to state unequivocally that Zone 7 Headquarters, in addition to its core policing responsibilities, serves as the administrative and supervisory authority over the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command and the Niger State Police Command. The Zone is made up of senior officers under the leadership of the AIG who are duly charged with oversight responsibilities to ensure discipline, professionalism and strict adherence to extant laws by all personnel within the Zone.

In the specific instance referenced, no formal report or complaint was brought to the attention of the Zone’s leadership regarding the alleged misconduct prior to the emergence of the Social Media Post. However, the AIG has ordered a comprehensive and far-reaching investigation into the allegations, with a view to identifying any personnel who may have been involved in such unwholesome conduct.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, remains resolute in his commitment to checkmating all forms of misconduct, particularly corrupt practices, in line with the core values and reform agenda of the Inspector-General of Police. The Zone will “NOT” condone any act that undermines public trust, and any officer found culpable shall be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any incidents of police misconduct through appropriate and official channels for prompt action.

The Zone assures the public of its unwavering commitment to professionalism, accountability and service.
