FAITH IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC: FINDING STRENGTH FROM ON HIGH IN CHAOS FAITH IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC: FINDING STRENGTH FROM ON HIGH IN CHAOS

THE SUPREMACY OF OUR FAITH OVER SCIENCE

“ O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called” 1Tim.6:20(KJV)

MY STORY
On Saturday, March 15,1997 my wife gave birth to our twin daughters in a small town in southwestern Nigeria where I was a Pastor of a young church of about 150 people(adults and children). I had planted the church 11 months earlier on April 14,1996.
A couple of weeks before she was put to bed I took her to one of the big hospitals in the town, where one of the sisters in our church was working. The sister recommended I should bring her to see one of their doctors so that she can be examined in a kind of antenatal test. We went to this hospital and a doctor was assigned to us who happened to be a Muslim. The doctor gave us the result of his examination and it was a very scary result; that my wife was having a “breech pregnancy” and that the “baby” will be a breech birth(the medical term used for baby that will be born bottom first instead of head first). And that she will require medical procedure at the time of delivery.I was scared,for the way the doctor spoke really shook my faith. I am a man of faith but the doctor is a man of science we are operating at different realms.On that day,something tells me that from henceforth we will never come back to this doctor or this hospital for anything. Because spiritual knowledge tells me our faith require a conducive environment to operate.
And the Lord honoured that decision.
So on the day she will be put to bed,Saturday March 15,1997 the labour started around 12 noon mid-day and the Lord by the Spirit led me to take her to a maternity home in the town run by an elderly woman who is also a member of our church. She has just retired as a matron in one of the Government hospitals in the state and she started her own maternity home in the town. She has limited resources not much medical equipment and personnel with her. But she was doing well in terms of midwifery. In one of her testimonies in church she took deliveries of 3-5 babies on the average per day. She had About 20 years of midwifery experience. She had a Baptist background and she started attending our church, a Pentecostal church when it was planted and hearing the word of faith.
So I brought my wife to her place, she never knew I will be coming for there was no mobile phones in Nigeria at that time, so there was no way to reach her. I drove my wife there and she quickly received us with all gladness and honour as servants of God and as her pastors.
She and about two other ladies working with her as staff took my wife straight to their delivery room while I was asked to sit in her office in the same building. I was in that office for close to 10 hours waiting for what the Lord will do. I remember by 9.41pm in the night the first baby came and the woman said to me with joy “pastor, pastor they are two we will need another clothe” I have to rush out and drive to the market that night to buy the second clothe because we never prepared for twins, we only came to that maternity home with one clothe for one child according to the examination of the Muslim doctor that did her antenatal test saying it was a “baby” so we held the assumption that it was one baby.
Now the second baby came at 9.45 pm about 4 minutes apart. And I brought the second clothe for them.
The woman and her staff did all the cleaning up after the delivery and we had some thanksgiving prayers together in her office unto the Lord.
And I drove my wife and the new babies back home that night.
I also remember while naming our twins, the second one that came at 9.45pm is named BOLUWATIFE, meaning the way GOD wants it!
For He is Sovereign. Just Glorify the Lord God who did it.
Now this is the testimony why I am sharing this story; the woman said to me “ my pastor, we had a lot of challenges and issues while delivering these babies for they are breech babies and ideally that should have meant a Caesarian operation for her to bring the babies out but we don’t have the equipment and also because you have taught me FAITH I decided not to inform you about it, all through the hours I always go to another room in the building to pray as you have taught us, so the delivery of these babies is an handiwork of God, for they are miracle babies”.
This testimony has remained with me these past 23 years and it has been one of the pillars of my Christian walk and service. For the Lord taught me a lot of things from that testimony, primarily that the Lord our God is superior to science. The Muslim doctor was correct about what he saw concerning the breech position but was wrong about the number of babies he saw. The babies were two not one.And been correct about the breech position, which will definitely require medical procedure for delivery, Our God stepped in for my wife, she never had to go through any medical procedure for the delivery rather a woman of faith was used to accomplish the will of God.
So many lessons for me personally which has been a source of strength to my walk with the Lord over the years.

CONCLUSION
As we navigate through this Pandemic of COVID-19 and we are bombarded with all manners of scientific and public health information and “models”,let us never ignore the place of faith; for our faith through the salvation we all have in Christ is far superior to anything anybody is saying. Let’s keep hearing what the Lord is saying to us by His Spirit; For Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God(Rom.10:17).
And to always remember that our Faith is THE VICTORY that overcomes the world and of course COVID-19 inclusive(1John 5:4).
May the Lord bless each and everyone of us in the midst of this Pandemic and strengthen our Faith in Him.

Church is a learning center.

We just had a very successful outreach on our IDP MISSION to 20 IDP Camps in Abuja and Nassarawa with 11 US Missionaries from the States of California,Idaho and Montana. Many souls were saved through the Jesus Film,Thousands of Bibles were shared to those who are saved,4 Bore Holes were drilled and Food items were distributed. Our Lord’s Name and His Kingdom was Glorified. The Refugees received Hope and Love of Jesus! Hallelujah
