First, meet the Head of the Division, Sani Datti. Read his profile and learn about the experience and leadership driving the Ministry's communication and public engagement efforts:

"Sani Datti is the Head of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Regional Development, where he leads the Ministry's strategic communication, media relations, public information management, and digital engagement.

With extensive experience in government communication, he has served in key public relations and public affairs roles at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the Ministry of Defence.

A graduate of Bayero University, Kano, with professional training from the National Institute of Public Information (NIPI) and the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja, he is also an expert in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation.

Driven by a passion for public service, Sani Datti is committed to making government policies and programmes easier to understand, strengthening public trust, and using effective communication to support national development."

INSIGHT: The NRDP framework was developed through extensive consultation with state governments, civil society, the private sector, and our development partners — most notably UNDP Nigeria, whose sustained technical and financial partnership has been vital at every stage of this policy’s development.

ALIGNMENT MEETING: The Ministry of Regional Development and UNDP are meeting to align on the final stages of the National Regional Development Policy (NRDP 2026-2030).

Key objectives:

- Harmonize feedback from regional validation workshops.
- Agree on the policy's final scope and structure.
- Finalize the implementation framework and supporting documents.
- Chart the roadmap for validation, FEC presentation, publication, and official launch.

Together, we are advancing a unified vision for inclusive and sustainable regional development in Nigeria.

RETIREMENT: Last week, on 29th June 2026, the Management and staff of the Ministry of Regional Development, Nigeria celebrated the retirement, 60th birthday, and outstanding life of service, impact, and excellence of the Director of the Community Development and Education Department , Mr Wasa Festus Monday.

We celebrated a remarkable leader, mentor, and dedicated public servant whose unwavering commitment has left a lasting footprint in community development and education. His years of selfless service, exemplary leadership, and passion for excellence have made a meaningful difference and inspired colleagues across the Ministry.

As he begins this new chapter, we honour his invaluable contributions and wish him a fulfilling, healthy, and rewarding retirement.
